Wolves fans will fear that history is repeating itself with Vitor Pereira at the helm after a frustrating start to the summer transfer window.
Wolves have continued their theme of selling their best players in 2025 as Matheus Cunha joined Manchester United in June, with his exit closely followed by Rayan Ait-Nouri to Manchester City.
Those two headline departures have prompted worries in the fanbase as the duo registered 32 goal involvements between them last term.
So far, the Old Gold have failed to land replacements for either, although Wolves are closing in on the signing of Jhon Arias, who is set for his medical next week.
While Arias will join Fer Lopez through the door at Molineux, Wolves still require a replacement for Ait-Nouri and investment in several positions, something Vitor Pereira has expressed his concerns about.

Vitor Pereira directs his frustrations towards Fosun with transfer verdict
In previous transfer windows, managers have found it incredibly difficult working under Fosun, as Gary O’Neil complained about a lack of backing towards the end of his tenure.
Julen Lopetegui also walked out of Wolves in August 2023, just days before the start of the new season, after not being handed the required investment in the window.
With Wolves overhauling their recruitment team this summer, fans were hopeful that Pereira wouldn’t fall foul of the regime, but unfortunately, he’s experiencing similar problems to O’Neil and Lopetegui.
In an interview with O Jogo, Pereira expressed his desire to bring reinforcements through the door after losing two ‘important’ players in Ait-Nouri and Cunha.
“A relationship has been created, a relationship that I hope will continue and I hope the club understands that it is necessary to meet the expectations of the masses, because they are now starting to create expectations, naturally, and we need reinforcements, we need to present ourselves competitively,” he warned.
“My ambition is to walk there in the middle of the table and not always be worried about the places below. It’s looking up.
“But at this moment, we lost [advanced Matheus] Cunha, we lost [left-back Rayan] Ait-Nouri, one for Manchester United and one for Manchester City, two very important players for us,” he lamented.
While Pereira directed his frustrations towards the lack of movement into the club, he is hopeful there will be some positive news in the coming days, perhaps beginning with the announcement of Arias.
“I want to prepare a team to start the championship competitively, but at this time, it has not yet been possible. I hope that, in the next few days, there will be news, in order to bring people to increase the quality of the squad,” he wished.
A huge month awaits Wolves
It’s less than a month until Wolves kick off their Premier League campaign at home to Manchester City, and there will be an onus on getting several bodies through the door.
Wolves signing Arias for £19 million could turn out to be an incredible bit of business, and hopefully, he can replace Cunha’s output.
But, the Wanderers have a long way to go before they’re adequately prepared for the 2025/26 season, needing one or two midfielders to challenge the likes of Andre, Joao Gomes, Marshall Munetsi and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde.
Pereira also needs a right-back to replace captain Nelson Semedo, and currently, Wolves are pushing to sign Marc Pubill.
Meanwhile, Jorgen Strand Larsen needs another one or two strikers to support him up top, with the likelihood that Goncalo Guedes, Hwang Hee-chan, Fabio Silva and Sasa Kalajdzic all either leave or head out on loan.
So, realistically, Wolves need another five additions on top of Lopez and Arias to field a competitive squad that can push towards mid-table.
