Wolves fans will be strapping themselves in for a rollercoaster of emotions during the upcoming transfer window, with rumours already starting to ignite.
Despite winning their last six Premier League games, Vitor Pereira will be looking to strengthen his squad, especially with the imminent departure of Matheus Cunha.
The Portuguese boss is eyeing players for multiple positions, including in midfield, with Wolves being linked to Real Betis star Johnny Cardoso.
It’s been reported that the Wanderers are willing to triple the players wages as they aim to fight off interest from Tottenham.
Pereira isn’t just looking for a new midfielder, though, with Wolves reportedly wanting to sign Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy.

Jamie Vardy to Wolves rumours have been shut down
Last week, Vardy announced he will be leaving Leicester at the end of the 2024/25 campaign after an incredible 13 years at the club.
Naturally, the Englishman’s agent has been looking to find his client a Premier League club, with Vardy feeling he can still cut it at the top level even after his side’s 3-0 loss to Wolves on Saturday.
Rumours from numerous outlets suggested that Wolves wanted to sign the 38-year-old this summer, but those have now been shut down by transfer guru Rudy Galetti, who stated the Old Gold aren’t interested in the striker.
In a relegated Foxes side this term, Vardy has fired a respectable seven goals, though only one of those has come in his previous 12 starts.
Perhaps in an attacking team, or one that plays on the counter-attack, the veteran would still flourish at the top level, but it’s clear Wolves would be dodging a bullet by quashing their interest.

Wolves dodging a bullet by not going for Vardy
Admittedly, in his prime, it would be a no-brainer to snap up Vardy. He’s one of the greatest Premier League goalscorers of all time, with his lethal finishing taking Leicester to new heights.
But given his age and the amount of wages he’d desire, it’s a smart move to avoid signing the former England international.
Wolves already have Jorgen Strand Larsen, who equalled Raul Jimenez’s record for goals in his first season, and Pereira could do with a younger striker to supplement the Norwegian.
Further, if Fosun did sanction a move for Vardy, they’d be contradicting themselves. Wolves want to cut back on wages this summer, as demonstrated by Nelson Semedo’s future being up in the air.
Where Jamie Vardy ranks among Wolves highest earners |
Jamie Vardy – £140,000 |
Matheus Cunha – £90,000 |
Goncalo Guedes – £90,000 |
Pablo Sarabia – £90,000 |
Nelson Semedo – £80,000 |
Semedo is in discussions over a new contract with his current one expiring, but as he’s one of the club’s highest earners, a resolution isn’t simple.
Vardy would not only destroy the wage structure but he wouldn’t even be guaranteed to start under Pereira, with Wolves preferring Strand Larsen and two floating number 10’s.
