Ruben Neves made ‘honest’ admission before Southampton that every Wolves fan will absolutely adore

Wolves fans were left delighted on Saturday, as former captain Ruben Neves made an appearance at Molineux for the Southampton game.

The midfielder was in attendance to watch his old club take on relegation rivals the Saints.

It was a game that Wolves simply had to win, and that’s exactly what they did thanks in part to Matheus Cunha, who scored and assisted in brilliant fashion.

Wolves were not great against the Saints.

There were also a couple of incidents that saw Wolves get slightly lucky, such as Southampton having a goal by Ryan Manning ruled out for a foul on Nelson Semedo, and Cunha’s goal being allowed to stand after potential fouls by Craig Dawson and Santi Bueno

But they got the win and the Wolves manager’s job is safe for now. However, some Wolves fans still want O’neil sacked.

It was great to see Ruben Neves back at Molineux – and Wolves have released some behind-the-scenes footage that features an admission from him that fans will absolutely love.

Cunha suggested Wolves need to bring Neves to Molineux more often, as he seemed to serve as a good luck charm on Saturday.

Fans would certainly love that, with Neves still an extremely popular figure in these parts.

It is crystal clear that Neves still holds the club dear in his heart, and the emotions he showed in his farewell video were totally genuine.

They say ‘Once a Wolf, always a Wolf’, and this is certainly applicable to Neves, who made an admission that fans will adore ahead of his visit to Molineux on Saturday.

Speaking during his ride to the stadium, Neves said (via Wolves official YouTube): “We’ve been speaking about coming back here to watch a game for a long time and we had the chance today so I’m really excited to see everyone in the stadium and see a win, I hope.

“I’ve watched every single game, I think, this season, because of the time difference as well. I’m always able to watch the matches. I think I watch every single one to be honest.”

Neves was invited into Wolves’ inner sanctum after the win over Southampton to join the celebrations, indicating that he is still so highly regarded at the club.

Neves is a Wolves legend

This admission will be lapped up by fans no doubt.

It is commonplace these days for players to move on from clubs and then completely cut ties. Or players do not really hold an emotional connection to the club they have left.

But it’s clear that Neves still absolutely adores Wolves, given his farewell video and this admission about still watching all the games.

You could also see from his face on Saturday just how happy he was being back.

Wolves fans would love to think there is a chance that the legend that is Neves will one day return to Molineux, either as a player or in some other capacity.

And surely, that can never be ruled out given his feelings.
