Wolves fans will absolutely love what Nelson Semedo does behind the scenes at Molineux

Nelson Semedo could be approaching the end of his time at Molineux, but what Wolves fans are desperate for him to stay.

Semedo sees his contract at Wolves expire this summer, with time running out to tie the 31-year-old down to a new deal.

It was revealed last week that Semedo was in talks over a new contract, explaining how he was having conversations with the club regarding his future.

The Portuguese full-back does have an abundance of interest, though, with clubs from Saudi Arabia keen on Semedo as well as his former side Benfica.

Of course, Wolves fans want their captain to continue his incredible stint at Molineux, and the things he does behind the scenes will reinforce that point.

What Nelson Semedo does behind the scenes at Wolves

Semedo was shocked when he was given the captaincy, replacing Mario Lemina in December after the brawl at West Ham, with the 31-year-old eventually joining Galatasaray in February.

But the decision to give it to the former Barcelona has proven to be a rare masterstroke from Gary O’Neil, as the wing-back has led by example on the pitch and is arguably playing his best football at Wolves.

It isn’t just on the field, though, where Semedo has made an everlasting impact. As highlighted by Sky Sports, he’s been responsible for the care of players behind the scenes, ‘organising various grills and parties for the squad’.

The togetherness among the team off the field has been matched by improvements on it, and the Portuguese international defender can take huge credit for creating a feel-good factor among his teammates.

Semedo has also credited Nasser Djiga, the deadline day signing from Red Star Belgrade, for helping the team a lot in training despite rarely playing.

That just shows he notices the impact of the players around him, and not just himself, which is the sign of a brilliant captain and leadership figure.

Wolves must resolves Semedo contract talks

Although he wants to stay at Molineux, Semedo is presented with a dilemma if a Saudi club, for instance, offers him lucrative money.

Ruben Neves has set up his family for generations with the wealth accumulated from Al Hilal, and his former teammate could have a similar motivation.

But for Wolves, it’s imperative they keep their captain on board, as he’s had a tremendous campaign and the value he provides off the pitch is incredible.

Hopefully, the Old Gold agree terms with Semedo, as it would leave them one less position to prioritise in the summer transfer window.
