Wolves enjoyed another victory. The Old Gold’s latest win against Ipswich Town has put them on the brink of safety.
After Wolves beat Ipswich Town 2-1 away from home, Vitor Pereira is so close to securing the club’s Premier League survival.
Since taking over from Gary O’Neil last December, Pereira has overseen a huge turnaround, not only in results, but also in performances, and Jamie Carragher can’t praise the work he has done highly enough.

Jamie Carragher praises the work done by ‘superb’ Vitor Pereira
O’Neil’s final game in the dugout ironically came after Wolves lost to Ipswich Town, leaving the side with just nine points after 13 games and just inside the relegation zone.
Fast forward four months and not only are they on the brink of safety, but Wolves are one of the country’s most in-form teams, and it’s all thanks to Pereira.
“I think for a large part of this season, we’ve felt that Wolves were a class above the teams who’ve been promoted,” Carragher said on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football.
“The manager has done a superb job, hasn’t he, since he’s come in. Don’t forget, he’s the guy who almost got the Everton job a couple of years ago as well, Vitor Pereira. I think it ended up being Frank Lampard who got the job in the end.
“[…] The biggest difference has been from this man here; the manager.”
Only way is up
The work the 56-year-old has done in such a short space of time has been simply excellent.
Pereira has built a great connection with supporters and looks to be genuinely enjoying his time in the Midlands.
Next season is going to be interesting, for several reasons. The boss will have a full summer transfer window — a period when a lot of change is expected.
Matheus Cunha will probably move on, as could Liverpool-linked Rayan Ait-Nouri, but fans shouldn’t feel anxious with Pereira in charge. The Portuguese boss has already proven in the January window that he can make the right signings.
The Wolves manager’s contract expires next year but it wouldn’t be surprising if Fosun offered Pereira a new deal before then.
