Wolves made the inspired decision to hire Vitor Pereira as manager in December, and since then, the Portuguese tactician has become a beacon of hope for the supporters.
The 56-year-old successfully kept Wolves in the Premier League last term when their chances of staying up looked slim, and he now wants to build on that by dragging his side towards mid-table.
To see real improvements in 2025/26, the Portuguese boss needs the backing of Fosun in the transfer window, something previous managers haven’t experienced.
Worryingly, Pereira has already complained about Wolves’ lack of transfer activity, only seeing Fer Lopez join from Celta Vigo this summer, while Jhon Arias will move to Molineux next week after completing his medical.
History threatens to repeat itself in Wolverhampton if sufficient quality isn’t brought through the door, and as a result, fans will worry about the manager’s future. Luckily, any concerns about him leaving have been put to bed.

Vitor Pereira says it’s ‘impossible’ for him to leave Wolves
Pereira has built a strong connection with the supporters since becoming manager seven months ago. He’s been seen drinking with the Wolves faithful in the pub on several occasions, creating the slogan ‘first the points, then the pints’.
A special bond has been formed during his short time at the club so far, and fortunately, he’s recognised how rare that is and admitted it would be ‘impossible’ for him to leave.

25 matches |
12 wins |

When asked if he can guarantee fans he won’t walk away from the project, Pereira gave a reassuring answer to the E&S: “No, this is impossible for me, this is impossible.
“This is impossible because of the connection between us, I can’t leave this project. This is my club, this is my family and I will fight with all my heart for Wolverhampton. Believe me, this is what I am.
Although he’s committed his future to Wolves, he also emphasised the importance of getting players through the door so they can compete against every team in the division.
“I know myself, at the end of the market maybe I will be not happy, maybe disappointed. I hope not, because I believe in the people that they are working hard to give us (players),” Pereira added.
“We cannot do miracles, we need players. We need to compete with Manchester City, Arsenal. This is our league.
“We are not competing just with the clubs that are coming from the Championship. Even these clubs, they are spending a lot of money, they are investing a lot of money. It means that the next league will be very, very tough for us.
“I want players that I know that at the end of the game, we cannot control the result, but in the end of the game we are proud of ourselves because we fight, we give everything. Because this is the heart of the people in Wolverhampton.”

Pereira shares an update on his Wolves contract
In April, Molineux News revealed that Wolves could give a new contract to Pereira towards the end of the year if the upward momentum carries on.
But when asked during Wolves’ pre-season training campaign in Portugal about signing fresh terms, the former Al Shabab boss was relaxed about the situation.
“I’m not worried about the contract,” Pereira added.
“When I feel that people respect me, when I feel the friendship of the people, when I go in the pub, when I go in the streets, and when I feel that the people in the club are on the same page as me, I don’t care. I’m OK.
“We are talking about signing another contract, we’ll see. But I’m not worried about this, I just want, like you, like the supporters, I just want to have the tools to fight.”
Pereira perhaps hints that all the pieces falling together in the transfer window could lead to him signing a new contract, but with less than a month until the new season, the Wanderers hierarchy still have a lot to deliver.
