Wolves fans were in awe of ‘incredible’ debutant in 2023, now he’s set to explode under Vitor Pereira

Impressive debuts can often get fans excited about what’s to come, and that would be the case for Wolves supporters back in 2023.

The summer window prior to the 23/24 season would bring Wolves a number of gems, with the likes of Matheus Cunha arriving at the club.

Cunha would go on to dazzle for Wolves in the months that followed, but there was actually another transfer that summer that got fans even more excited.

Jean-Ricner Bellegarde would arrive at the club alongside the Brazilian and would leave supporters amazed following an impressive debut display versus Liverpool.

Wolves fans were impressed by Jean-Ricner Bellegarde’s debut vs Liverpool

To the surprise of the home fans, Wolves took the lead against the Reds, with Hwang Hee-Chan putting Gary O’Neil’s side in front early on.

Hwang, however, wouldn’t be the one to catch the headlines, as Bellegarde’s first-half display left fans in awe.

Despite Liverpool going on to win the game 3-1 in the second half, Wolves fans made sure to praise the performance of debutant Bellegarde.

One supporter said via X: “Bellegarde. Wow. I’m so impressed. Incredible first half performance against Liverpool.”

A third fan stated: “Some positives in that. Neto, Gomes, Bellegarde were excellent and didn’t deserve to be on the losing side. Liverpool’s offensive options were a million miles from where we are. Jury is still out on GO’N for me.”

Liverpool fans themselves would even laud the display of Bellegarde after the final whistle.

“Get Bellegarde to Liverpool in January, please, what a talent never heard of him until today,” one Reds supporter claimed.

Bellegarde can shine under Vitor Pereira

Given how impressive his debut was, many will argue that Bellegarde’s Wolves career hasn’t really caught a light so far.

Injuries and selection issues under O’Neil have prevented the Frenchman from really kicking on, but that could change heading into next season.

Bellegarde shone in limited minutes last campaign, and some fans now believe the 26-year-old can be Wolves’ Cunha replacement.

Vitor Pereira is a fan of Bellegarde, and it would be no surprise to see the Portuguese hand the attacker a big role next season.

If that is the case, Wolves fans will be hoping Bellegarde can repeat his debut performance on a more regular basis.
