Wolves fans think one clear plan has emerged after 2-1 Arsenal defeat, featuring Tolu Arokodare

Wolves fell to a heartbreaking defeat against Arsenal on Saturday night, but fans believe a few fringe players could be the answer for Rob Edwards moving forward.

Wolves lost 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium, after being just seconds away from taking a point against the Premier League leaders.

The Old Gold had got back on level terms through Tolu Arokodare, who became the first Nigerian player to score for Wolves in the Premier League.

There were scenes of bedlam in the away end, with supporters handed a rare moment of ecstasy in what has been a terrible season.

But the joy was short-lived, with Yerson Mosquera putting through his own net just moments later.

Despite the gutting defeat, there were genuinely a number of positives to take for Wolves.

And some fans reckon that a potential brand new forward line could now be staring Edwards in the face.

For a while now, Wolves have really struggled in the final third.

The Old Gold have scored just nine goals in the Premier League so far, which is far and away the fewest of any side.

There has been major criticism of Jorgen Strand Larsen, who was even sarcastically cheered off the pitch against Manchester United recently.

It was another poor showing from Strand Larsen against Arsenal, unfortunately.

Hwang Hee-chan came into the starting XI as his partner and had a decent game.

But some fans are now urging Edwards to start three players who are on the fringes, after they all impressed off the bench against the Gunners.

@TomTracey12: “Tolu, Mane and Lopez against Brentford plz.”

@foleyWWFC: “Tolu should be starting next weekend against Brentford. Strand Larsen checked out in August so leave him on the bench he has offered nothing for months. Play Mane and Lopez and have a go every week I’m ok with the now. We have nothing to lose at this point #wwfc.”

@fcw_12: “Play Mane, Lopez and Tolu for the rest of the season. It’s really not that hard.”

@BenThorne01: “Wolves finally showed some decent play creating their goal last night. Edwards has got to bring a new spark to the team or he will be under pressure. JSL plays like he doesn’t want responsibility of it. Tolu, Mane, Lopez can bring a different spark. We need it! #Wolves #wwfc.”

@lil_dzr: “This has to be made clear from now on. Tolu, Mane and Lopez need to become regular starters, they are so much better than current players in their positions and always make an impact as proven today. If they do start against Brentford I have some faith.”

@JonnyQ88: “Front 3 HAS to be Lopez, Mane and Tolu rest of the season.”

@MijasWolves: “Lopez, Tolu and Mane have to start every game.”

A gamble potentially worth taking

The ongoing struggles of Strand Larsen make the clamour for a new-look attack understandable.

Wolves have been miles off it in the final third this season, and the number nine really has been disappointing, and the calls for Arokodare to lead the line are clear.

Do you agree with Tolu Arokodare that Wolves have been ‘unlucky’ this season? 🤔

It's just two points taken from 16 PL games so far…

It would be good to see the Nigerian get a run of starts leading the line.

And to have Mane and Lopez as the number 10s behind him would be exciting as both have looked good coming off the bench in recent games.

Mane is a player who Wolves fans especially want to see start regularly, and he has surely put himself in contention with that great cameo and fine assist.

The pair are both raw, so Edwards may be reluctant to start both. But given how poor things have been, a shake up may well be necessary.
