Wolves fans say Rodrigo Gomes is only player who can ‘hold head high’ after Burnley loss

Wolves fans were rightfully frustrated after yet another poor performance and result in the Premier League, but Rodrigo Gomes still received praise.

It was a disappointing afternoon for the Portuguese winger who tried his hardest to make something happen.

Jorgen Strand Larsen apologised to fans for the poor result, and before he delivered his statement, he was part of ugly scenes at full-time involving Vitor Pereira.

The head coach responded to questions around his future, but his answer was very vague compared to recent comments where he insisted he felt no pressure from the board.

There were not many positives, but according to fans, Rodrigo Gomes is one.

Rodrigo Gomes receives praise from Wolves fans despite loss

Rodrigo Gomes worked incredibly hard against Burnley, and his work rate did not go unnoticed among supporters.

The 22-year-old had been a talking point for fans for weeks, and here at Molineux News we called for Gomes to play out wide.

The Old Gold faithful took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to rave about the winger.

One fan said, “Feel genuinely sorry for the players like Krejci and Rodrigo Gomes who give everything for the badge every week.”

With another stating, “We don’t deserve Rodrigo Gomes.”

A different supporter said, “The only player who deserves any credit after that is Rodrigo Gomes!!!!”

Meanwhile another posted, “Rodrigo Gomes was the only guy that played for that badge today. The rest was atrocious.”

Finally, one fan said, “Rodrigo Gomes and Hugo Bueno are the only ones who can hold their heads high this season.”

While fans were impressed with one player out wide, there was another wide man that frustrated supporters against Burnley.

Rodrigo Gomes’ stats vs Burnley

Rodrigo Gomes was certainly a spark for Wolves against Burnley, and the winger was quite involved in the attack.

He has seemingly established himself as the left-winger for the club going forward.

The Portuguese player should no doubt start in the front three when Chelsea travel to Molineux for the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.

Their only wins this season have come in the cup, so perhaps there can be an upset against the Blues.

But that may be wishful thinking with the current state of affairs.
