Wolverhampton Wanderers fans have been reacting to some interesting comments from Bruno Lage about Joao Moutinho.

The Molineux boss was quoted yesterday as saying the midfielder could yet play for another five years.

My Revenge On Ben Foster

He didn’t actually say he could play for another five years specifically in a Wolves shirt, just another five years.

He also believes Moutinho can then become a manager after finishing playing.

Moutinho recently turned 35, meaning he is the final stages of his playing career.

For a lot of other players at this age, retirement would be imminent.

But Moutinho is built differently, and he could continue playing at the highest level for a little while longer.

The man has clearly looked after himself very well, and throughout his career he has never really had any serious injuries.

He’s clocked up 745 first-team appearances across four clubs, and also got 140 caps for Portugal.

The durability of the man is quite remarkable, and to think he may have five more years left in him is incredible. Especially since he is a central midfielder, one of the most exhaustive positions to play in football.

Last term was a bit of a struggle for Moutinho, But then, few Molineux stars had good seasons in 2020/21.

He has started the current campaign off quite well under Lage, who is clearly taken by him given his remarks.
