Wolverhampton Wanderers fans have been reacting to some concerning news shared by Nuno Espirito Santo after last night’s draw with West Bromwich Albion.

Following the 1-1 draw at the Hawthorns, the manager spoke about defender Willy Boly, who recently came back into the team after testing positive for Covid-19.

The Ivory Coast international contracted the disease early last month.

He undertook a period of self-isolation, and returned to the starting XI against Sheffield United on April 17.

He then started against Burnley, but was absent last night against Albion, and Nuno says the 30-year-old is struggling.

He said on Sky Sports: “He’s in a tough moment. He was infected and this week he was not able to train.

“His heart rate increases very fast so we have to look. He’s doing exams and analysis to see if there’s any other issue. I hope not. I hope resting him and medically things will improve.

“After Covid everyone has to look at the after-effects of Boly and many other players. We must be aware of that. His energy is not there. He feels tired and he’s not able to sustain the level of training that we want.”

It has been a season of interruption for Boly, recognised by many as the club’s best defender.

He had a couple of injuries before his positive Covid test, meaning he’s been limited to just 21 appearances in total so far this season.

Hopefully the star can make a full recovery from this latest concerning setback.
