Some Wolverhampton Wanderers fans have been reacting to some comments from Jeff Shi about Fabio Silva.
The club’s chairman has sat down to participate in a Q&A session along with other members of senior management, with fans sending in their queries.
The club released the first of the four-part series yesterday.
It is packed with talk about all things Wolves, and Shi hailed Silva at one point.
He said (Wolves official): “I want to say, Fabio at the beginning I thought he is the top player at his age in the world.
“Now, I think it has even proved that, because not so many 18-year-olds have played in the Premier League, score four goals, five goals, and maybe you can hear more names around the world, OK some wonderkid here or there, but no one is playing the same as Fabio is doing now in the league, in the toughest league in the world.”
Shi then goes on to say that he thinks Silva is at least top three for wonderkids in football today.
It is huge praise for the 18-year-old, who has been thrust into the spotlight at Molineux since making his £35.6 million move from FC Porto last year (BBC Sport).
Raul Jimenez’s injury meant he had to play much more than was intended.
The £80,000-a-week star (Spotrac) ended up scoring four goals in his first year, and the hope is that he can really kick on from that next term.
On social media, some fans have been reacting to what Shi said about Silva, and with the exception of one or two, most people liked his assessment:

We need to see him in a positive team that is full of confidence before we can truly judge him for me.

I like Fabio but Jude Bellingham is absolutely miles above him and is easily the best wonderkid in the world

Really hope he succeeds. His moves, decision making and passion for winning a game is unreal. Goals will come. Crack on kid. Look forward to watching for years to come

His footballing brain is there, just waiting for the body to catch up. When it does, I hope he’s in a wolves shirt.

Kid’s 18. I think he performed outstandingly given the undue pressure and unsteady role.
