Some Wolverhampton Wanderers fans have been responding to a tweet from Carl Ikeme, saying it would be nice to see someone take the number one jersey.
Rui Patricio has officially now left the club.
He joins Jose Mourinho at AS Roma, and a replacement could be imminent.
It has been widely reported that Jose Sa will be the man coming in.
He has already been replaced at Olympiacos by Tomas Vaclik.
Upon signing for Wolves in 2018, Patricio took the number 11 shirt out of respect for Ikeme.
The former Wolves goalkeeper was forced to retire after being diagnosed with leukaemia.
In 2019, Ikeme urged Patricio to take the number one jersey.
Now, he is sending the same message to the new man that comes in, which looks like Sa.
He wrote on Twitter: “With the probability of a new keeper joining us soon it would be nice to see somebody take that No.1 jersey.”
Fans have been reacting to Ikeme’s comment, with many praising him for giving his blessing:
Fantastic message and what a warm welcome to whoever is lucky enough to take forward the No 1 shirt

A blessing from the big man himself. And who are we to question him?
Rui was a gentleman for refusing the No.1. Carl is a gentleman for graciously handing it over.
