Sunderland have reportedly made an opening bid for Wolverhampton Wanderers youngster Dion Sanderson.

According to the Daily Mail, the Black Cats have tabled a £1 million offer for the 21-year-old.

Wolves have rejected that proposal. It’s claimed the Premier League side are looking for at least double that amount.

Sunderland making an official bid comes as no surprise.

Sanderson was hugely impressive on loan at the Stadium of Light last season.

He wowed supporters with his high and consistent performance levels.

It has been reported previously that Sunderland would look to sign Sanderson permanently.

That appears to be the case now, but they’ll have to increase their offer if they really want him.

The Daily Mail add that Cardiff City, Birmingham City, Stoke City, Luton Town and Millwall are all on his tail.

Wolves have just brought in Yerson Mosquera from Atletico Nacional. In theory, that pushes Sanderson closer to the exit.

On social media, fans have been giving their reactions to the £1 million bid from Sunderland.

For many, it’s hard to understand why the club are seemingly open to letting him leave for so cheap. And some simply laughed off Sunderland’s offer:
