Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly on the tail of Schalke midfielder Omar Mascarell.

AS have claimed that the Black Country club have asked for the player, who is said to be hoping to leave the Bundesliga club this summer.

There is strong potential for a cut-price deal for Mascarell, who will only have a year remaining on his current contract this summer.

Added to that, Schalke are in real trouble at the moment and will almost certainly be relegated, which would lead to player sales.

Mascarell has been with the Bundesliga side since the summer of 2018, joining from Real Madrid.

The 28-year-old only ever made one first-team appearance for los Blancos, and had loan spells with Derby County and Sporting Gijon, before joining Eintracht Frankfurt.

The star had been tipped to leave during the last transfer window, but stayed to try and help Schalke’s survival bid.

With the club heading for the second tier in Germany, his departure this summer looks inevitable – AS claim a fee of around £4 million could be enough for a transfer.

On social media, some Wolves fans have been discussing the prospect of Mascarell signing for the club.

The reaction has been fairly mixed:
