A Wolverhampton Wanderers scout was apparently in attendance for last night’s Champions League clash between Benfica and Bayern Munich.

According to Record (relayed by Sport Witness), a representative from Molineux was present at the Estadio da Luz, with German champions Bayern running out comfortable winners.

Leroy Sane played a starring role, grabbing two goals in a 4-0 victory.

The result means Bayern top their group with nine points from nine. They have scored 12 goals, and not yet conceded.

Benfica remain second on four points. But Barcelona’s win over Dinamo Kyiv means things are tight for who’ll qualify with Bayern.

It is interesting that a Wolves scout was apparently there watching last night’s game.

Wolves obviously have a large Portuguese contingent at Molineux. It could well be that stars from Benfica were the main focus.

Last night they had three Portuguese players starting in Andre Almeida, Joao Mario and Rafa Silva.

Diogo Goncalves, Goncalo Ramos and Pizzi then all came off the bench.

None of the players (from either side) that took to the field in last night’s game have been linked with a transfer to Wolves.

So it will be interesting to see if there are any links in the coming weeks involving players who did feature last night.

It would be nice to read about any potential interest in Bayern’s Niklas Sule.

Wolves desperately need to bring in a centre-half in January, and the giant Germany international is out of contract next summer.

He has recently been linked with Newcastle United.

Wolves fans joke

On social media, some Wolves fans have been reacting to Record’s claim.

Some have joked that Bayern superstar Robert Lewandowski could be on his way to the Black Country.
