Wolves fans react as Meritan Shabani signs contract extension

Wolves fans have been reacting to the news that Meritan Shabani has penned a new deal at the club.

The German midfielder has agreed fresh terms that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2023.

The 21-year-old has established himself with the U23s since coming to the club in 2019 from Bayern Munich.

The promising star made his first-team debut for the club in the Carabao Cup win over Reading shortly after his arrival, but his hopes of a quick progression and a continued stay in the first-team were dashed because of injury.

Shabani suffered an ACL injury which put him out of action for the remainder of the 2019/20 season in what was a huge blow for the young talent.

He retured to full fitness for the 2020/21 season and has started strongly for James Collinsโ€™ side, and his form has now been rewarded with a new contract.

With three goals and three assists so far, Shabani has really impressed, with Scott Sellars saying of him (Wolves official): โ€œWe know how he unfortunately got his cruciate injury when he made his first-team debut last year, but through his rehabilitation period, his attitude has been fantastic.

โ€œIn his performances for the U23s since he returned from injury, he has really started settling back into the Meritan we all know.โ€

On social media, some Wolves fans have been reacting to news of the club extending Shabaniโ€™s contract, with some actually vouching for his promotion to the first-team:
