Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Rafa Mir has made headlines this weekend, after he hit a brilliant hat-trick for SD Huesca against Real Valladolid.
The 23-year-old is now up to nine for the season with the Spanish club, and has notched 18 in 40 appearances in total.
The first of Mir’s goals was a fairly easy header from close range to open the scoring on 37 minutes.
His second was a lovely composed finish under pressure from two defenders, after a nice ball over the top.
His goal for the hat-trick was definitely the pick of the bunch though.
The star struck from outside the box, first-time, with the ball running away from him slightly for a truly stunning finish.
The three-goal haul by Mir actually seals his place in Huesca folklore, as it is the first time in the club’s history that a player has scored a hat-trick for them in La Liga.
Valladolid pulled one back in injury time through Toni Villa, but the damage from Mir had already been done.
The £1.5 million (Express & Star) certainly seems to be enjoying himself at the moment, and is providing some Wolves fans with food for thought.
The club have just signed Willian Jose on loan from Real Sociedad, which is a great signing, but quite a few people aren’t convinced by Patrick Cutrone, who was recently brought back from his loan at Fiorentina early.
Mir’s hat-trick has prompted some to question why he wasn’t brought back before the Italian, who looks like he could be Valencia-bound (Sky Sports):
Done far more on loan than Cutrone who people worship for some reason

if we don’t sign jose permanently don’t see why him and fabio can’t be back up for raul

He seems quite good I’m not going to lie but Ithink if Cutrone goes we should call him back

Doing very well in a struggling team. Can play anywhere across the front three so we won’t need to get a back up winger, I say give him a chance. Suits our style, physicality similar to Jimenez and with the players he has around him could do good. Still young.
