Bruno Lage further endeared himself to the Wolves supporters last night.

His side put in a very good performance against Everton, which resulted in a 2-1 victory.

My Revenge On Ben Foster

It was a bit of a nervy finish as the Toffees sought a late equaliser.

But, unlike against Leeds United, Wolves held out for all three points.

The first-half display was as good as we have seen from Wolves this season.

It was a throwback to the first few games; players were passing with conviction and moving at speed. Ruben Neves completely ran the game for large parts, which fans loved.

Hwang Hee-chan and Raul Jimenez were linking up beautifully, and everybody was pressing at every turn.

Everton as a team looked shellshocked and were lucky to go in only 2-0 down.

Unfortunately Wolves couldn’t sustain that brilliant fluidity, and a goal from Alex Iwobi did prompt an improvement in the visitors.

Wolves got a bit sloppy, but thankfully the defending was good enough, and Jose Sa made one superb save after an earlier mishap.

When the final whistle blew, there was a feeling of real relief around the ground.

And cameras picked up Lage’s reaction.

The manager could be seen celebrating wildly as the final whistle blew.

We haven’t really seen Lage get too emotional at the end of games so far.

Even when Ruben Neves scored the late winner against Aston Villa he was very calm.

It was as though this particular performance really meant a lot to him.

It was as if he was just so happy that his side had earned three points having played channelled everything he is about – attacking football and hard work off the ball.

Wolves were not entirely perfect, but it was largely a very good showing.
