Tommy Doyle went on loan to Birmingham City in the summer, but some Wolves supporters have expressed their frustration over one aspect of the deal.
Tommy Doyle left Molineux on a temporary basis at the start of July, after he had seen a serious lack of minutes under Vitor Pereira in 2024/25.
Pereira made it clear quite quickly that he preferred Andre and Joao Gomes. But Doyle also struggled to play over the likes of Jean-Ricner Bellegarde and Marshall Munetsi.
So the decision was taken to let Doyle leave.
At the time, Blues fans were delighted by the Doyle signing, as he had previously played in the Championship with Sheffield United and Cardiff City.
His experience of the division was always likely to stand him in good stead, and recently Doyle has gained more prominence at St. Andrew’s, with fans praising him after his display against Millwall recently.
Today on social media, Wolves fans have been expressing their frustration over one aspect of Doyle’s exit from the club.
Wolves fans annoyed there’s no recall option on Tommy Doyle

Earlier this week there were claims that Doyle could return to Wolves in January, as new manager Rob Edwards is a fan of the player.
But at the end of the summer window, journalist Liam Keen reported that Wolves do not have an option to recall Doyle from his loan at Birmingham.
And today, amid the speculation about Doyle, host of BBC Radio West Midlands Daz Hale took to X to reiterate that there is no recall option for Wolves over Doyle.
And this prompted an angry response from Wolves fans, who believe the club should have negotiated one.
@Mossy55018: “#genius 👏👏👏👏👏 Yet another masterclass from Jeff and the team.”
@zachary_garber: “More sensational work from our hierarchy 👌”
@molineuxmusings: “Vitor gaslit us into thinking Doyle wasn’t PL quality. Even went as far as suggesting he could be useful as a 10. If (big if) they get promoted, we’ve lost a ready made captain for next season IMO.”
@gaz1980roberts: “Another scandalous decision by Wolves made in the summer.”
@FPL_JimmyG: “Utterly speechless at this. Doyle is a different type of profile to any other midfielder we have and actually has some technical ability. Something we severely lack. All because VP only wanted 6ft 5in marathon runners. This club can do one.”
Rob Edwards may not thank Vitor Pereira over Tommy Doyle
There is still the potential for Wolves to negotiate with Birmingham to get Doyle’s loan move terminated.
But that seems highly unlikely, with Doyle now a key player for Blues as they seek to gain promotion to the Premier League.
It would also be another awful look for Wolves, paying to bring a player they own back to the club.

They aren’t going to want to lose Doyle, and Birmingham also stand to buy Doyle for £10 million if they get promoted to the Premier League.
It is such a shame Wolves didn’t negotiate a recall option as part of Doyle’s loan.
It felt like Pereira was adamant that there was no real place for Doyle in his squad, and Edwards may not thank his predecessor for that stance.
