The latest defeat to Crystal Palace has prompted some very strong opinions about the current Wolves squad.
On Saturday, Rob Edwards took his first game as Wolves manager, after replacing Vitor Pereira during the international break.
There was optimism ahead of kick-off, with Edwards obviously having a strong affinity with the club having been a player and coach previously.
Wolves’ best performer in the disappointing Crystal Palace loss?
Wolves had some good spells, but ultimately, there was a gulf in quality.
Wolves could not punish Palace when the Eagles were playing poorly, and that is major cause for concern.
In the end, Wolves had just one shot on target all game, with the visitors running out comfortable 2-0 winners. Afterwards, Edwards admitted his Wolves players lacked confidence.
And following the contest at Molineux, there have been some very strong remarks about the state of this current squad.

Fans slam Wolves squad as the worst the Premier League has ever seen

The 2025 summer window looks like it will go down as the worst of Fosun’s ownership.
Jeff Shi was adamant Wolves had a good window. But his comments have aged like milk, with Wolves still winless after 12 games.
The players that came in have all been poor, apart from Ladislav Krejci.
And Wolves could not afford to have poor recruits, given how many top players were leaving the club.
After yesterday’s game, fans took to social media to drop their verdicts on this squad, and some actually feel that it is the worst ever seen in the Premier League.
@CobboldKeith: “In five years we have gone from being quarter finalists in the Europa League, to having the worst ever squad to ‘grace’ the Premier League. @Fosun_Intl , you will never destroy OUR CLUB, go now! Our badge is all about football, it sickens me to see it used otherwise. #wwfc @Wolves”
@JMTB_86: “The Avengers couldn’t save this lot. Worst Premier League team of all time #wwfc”
@MrRyanLeister: “#wwfc | #ShiOut | The Common Denominator If @Fosun_Intl were still interested, would Jeff Shi still be in position? Wolves are on track to be the worst Premier League team ever.”
@mikey_wwfc: “Don’t rule out a double dip because this squad doesn’t have the quality to stay in the championship #wwfc.”
@Dwarfio: “We’re down, stick an (R) next to us. Not even Alex Ferguson would get a tune out of these duds. Worst twelve months of transfer activity ever (and that says something for us). Squad completely unbalanced and lacking ability #wwfc.”
@Bidders84: “That’s what you get when you sell your best players and leave a Championship squad playing in the Premier League. We will beat Derby’s record, mark my words. It’s utterly embarrassing #wwfc.”
@Irishwolf99: “And spent £100m this summer alone in doing so. This is worse than the Southampton squad of last season because we’ve spent sizeably more. It’s better than Derby’s squad but far worse per capita.”
Wolves will be relegated thanks to Fosun, Jeff Shi, Vitor Pereira and Domenico Teti
The rage from the Wolves fans yesterday was mainly directed at those responsible for the making of this squad.
There is sympathy for Rob Edwards, who has inherited a squad that has nowhere near enough quality to survive in the Premier League.
The table does not lie. Two points taken, with just seven goals scored and 27 conceded is absolutely atrocious.
Wolves vs Crystal Palace highlights
Pereira and Domenico Teti both played big parts in constructing this squad and must accept part of the blame for the current mess,
Wolves reportedly bent to Pereira and Teti’s needs, moving for their targets which left the recruitment team frustrated.
But of course, Fosun and Jeff Shi are also massively culpable as well. They’ve played with fire with their risky transfer MO and recruitment strategy over the years – selling off key players and replacing them with prospects – and are now being burnt.
