Rui Borges has emerged as a candidate for the Wolves job after Vitor Pereira was sacked on Sunday morning.
Borges is currently in charge at Sporting CP, having won the Portuguese league title last season. He is just one of five names shortlisted for the Wolves job.
While hiring a manager who is just off the back of winning a league is exciting, those feelings may have to be held back.
Wolves fans have noticed a concern that is eerily similar to one they had with Vitor Pereira.

Wolves fans concerned by Rui Borges’ job history, others inspired by possible appointment
Rui Borges was a surprise name that popped up as reports circulated about the next Wolves manager.
The 44-year-old is currently in charge of one of Europe’s top teams as Sporting chase back-to-back league titles and a good run in the Champions League.
Borges is also a Jorge Mendes client, and the agent could play a role in him making the switch.
While it would be ambitious to try to tempt him away, fans have noticed one glaring concern about his history.
Borges has managed nine football clubs in just eight years, and that has left some fans uneasy, as Vitor Pereira had a similar career trajectory.
One fan said, “Another journeyman that doesn’t last more than a year at any job? No thanks.”
With another stating, “Not been at a club more than a year or two in his entire career. No.”
A different supporter said, “Of course. Only the 9 clubs since 2017.”
However, not everyone is in the same boat. Others believe it would be an excellent appointment and one more inspiring than the other names touted.
A Wolves fan said, “Would really love this to come true; he has taken charge of 45 games at Sporting and lost just 7 in all competitions.”
With that sentiment backed up with someone saying, “This is the sort of manager that we could stay up with. Rob Edwards, GON and Michael Carrick are just managers who we can take in the championship with us.”
A different fan said, “Only named that’s moved me tbf but it won’t happen.”
Fans do feel like this is way too ambitious of a move, and it is extremely unlikely to happen, but that does not mean Wolves should not try.

Rui Borges has never managed a club for more than two years
Rui Borges’s longest time at a club came in his very first role as manager of Mirandela from 2017 to 2019. Since then, he has not lasted longer than a year in any job.
Vitor Pereira was the same, and he also hopped from club to club, and that was a concern for fans that ultimately rang true.
Yes, Rui Borges’s job history will be a concern, but he is doing a great job at Sporting right now, and Wolves need a bold appointment to have any chance of survival.
However, convincing him to join the club would be the biggest obstacle.
Fans would certainly react better than they have for Gary O’Neil after he was linked with a return.
