Transfer deadline day is fast approaching and Wolves are pushing hard to welcome some new faces before the window closes.
Gary O’Neil and Matt Hobbs must work smart for the remainder of the summer as a result of Wolves’ transfer budget.
The Old Gold are operating on a short leash however, the fact remains that additional signings must be made to bolster the squad.
Despite offloading Pedro Neto and Max Kilman for significant profit, Wolves are restricted due to PSR, meaning replacements must be found in a cost-effective manner.
Dara O’Shea is one name that has been linked in a bid to replace Kilman, with Carlos Forbs a target to succeed Neto on the wing although, there have been no breakthroughs as of yet.
Instead, the latest news on the transfer front suggests that O’Neil is eyeing another position, which has worried Wolves fans about one key player’s future.

Wolves fans worry about Joao Gomes’ future as Andre is targeted
This week, it was reported that Wolves are interested in Fluminense midfielder Andre, who is also on Manchester United’s shopping list.
The Brazilian was also linked to Fulham earlier this summer, where a price tag of £25m was reported.
On paper, the midfielder would be out of Wolves’ current transfer budget, however, fans have come to an unfortunate conclusion over why the Old Gold might be eyeing the Fluminense ace.
There is a concern that links to the defensive midfielder could mean that Joao Gomes’ future at Molineux is in jeopardy.
One fan said, “Only reason to suddenly be interested is if we are seriously contemplating selling Joao Gomes.”
Tottenham are interested in signing Gomes, who has four years remaining on his contract at Wolves.
Supporters began to connect the dots and assume the worst, as one said, “Just hope this ain’t a sign Gomes is leaving,” with another agreeing, “Gomes is leaving then isn’t he.”
A Wolves fan shared their concern by posting “Are we selling Joao Gomes?” to which a fellow supporter replied, “Read my mind, hope we’re wrong. Gomes has the potential to be one of the best midfielders in the league.”
The rumours have come at a strange time considering the budget that Wolves are operating on, which fans realised.
“This makes no sense we have no money to spend and not exactly a position we need to strengthen unless Gomes is off.”
Andre plays the identical role to Wolves’ loved Brazilian in the middle of the park, which was another concern raised by supporters.
“Doesn’t he play the Gomes role middle of the park?” with Wolves’ options in the position also thrown into conversation, “Are we selling someone then? don’t see how he gets in the team otherwise.”
Losing Gomes would be a nightmare
While signing Andre would replicate the perfect replacement for Gomes, the prospect of losing the 23-year-old so soon into his career at Molineux would be painful.
Wolves acquired the Brazil international from Flamengo in 2023 for just £15m, with the youngster becoming a huge hit early on in the Premier League.
The same could apply to Andre, making the Old Gold’s links understandable however, by taking that approach, Gomes’ exit also looks like it could materialise.
Spurs are rumoured to be willing to spend as much as £50m to sign the Wolves ace before deadline day, according to GIVEMESPORT, which would help to ease the Midlands club’s finances.
It’s a frustrating cycle at Molineux that fans are beginning to grow tired of, with the idea of losing Gomes both unnecessary and deflating.
