Wolves fans have a lot to say as Nottingham Forest sack Nuno Espirito Santo

There has been big news in the football world overnight, with Nottingham Forest and Nuno Espirito Santo parting ways.

Nuno Espirito Santo prompted speculation recently when he admitted that he and owner Evangelos Marinakis were not getting on as well as they used to.

Some had suggested all wasn’t well after Marinakis stormed the pitch to confront Nuno last season after Forest’s 2-2 draw with Leicester. The club vehemently denied this was a fallout between the two, and that it actually related to Taiwo Awoniyi’s injury.

Nuno has left the club after 21 months at the helm.

And Forest have moved swiftly, with Ange Postecoglou primed to take over after he left Spurs in the summer.

Despite the rumbling about Nuno and Forest in recent weeks, fans have still been left quite shocked by the development. Especially given what an amazing job he did at the City Ground.

And as expected, Wolves fans have had a few things to say about the situation.

Nuno’s exit is a huge development.

He had been extremely popular at the City Ground, just like he was at Molineux years before.

Nuno is just a great manager, and a great person to boot, and understandably there is a lot of sympathy for him today.

Most Wolves fans are very happy with Vitor Pereira at the moment. But some do wonder if Nuno Espirito Santo could make a sensational return at some point later in the season.

@keiran_wwfc: “Pereira will be gone by December and they’ll bring Nuno back.”

@jones23741: “I love Vitor but….. BRING. HIM. HOME.”

@erikwwfc: “Nuno back in January, Neves back in the summer? #wwfc”

@WWFCJimBob: “Nuno keeps us up… Just throwing that out there, Shi gone and Nuno back would be a dream, but if VP doesn’t start getting points on the board in the next 3-4 games…”

@Wolfenblack: “Obviously in the Wolverhampton area there is still a strong support and respect for Nuno. But hearing fans saying get him back. In the future, I’d gladly have him back at the club. The big question is, why would he want to work for this no ambition version of Fosun again?”

Nuno return to Wolves is unlikely, but never say never

It was perhaps inevitable that some fans would think about a potential return to Wolves for Nuno.

He achieved special things at this club, and will be eternally loved for the amazing memories he provided the supporters with.

But Wolves currently have a very capable manager in Pereira, who has been backed fairly well this summer.

Nuno Espirito Santo record at Wolves
Games managed – 199
Wins – 96
Draws – 46
Losses – 57
Points per match – 1.68

The recruitment division at Wolves has been restructured in a way that gives him more control, and he’s also brought in Domenico Teti and two more coaches over the summer.

If Pereira struggles though and happens to get sacked midway through the season, and Nuno is still unattached, then perhaps there’d be a conversation to be had.

But whether he’d want to return is another thing, given the ownership model.
