Wolves fans have a lot to say about Rob Edwards official announcement

Rob Edwards is officially the new Wolves manager.

We all knew this was coming. Edwards agreed to the Wolves job over the weekend, and an announcement was imminent.

It came as Jeff Shi released a statement on Edwards, welcoming him to the club and voicing his excitement over the start of a new chapter.

After the news broke, Wolves fans reacted with varying degrees of excitement.

Wolves fans on Rob Edwards hire

When a new manager comes in, there is usually an air of excitement among the fanbase.

That is the case with some sections of the Molineux faithful, but others aren’t ready to get excited yet after a miserable few months fresh in the memory.

On the optimistic end of things, one fan says: “Welcome back Rob Edwards! Hopefully you can save this team from relegation!”

Edwards has close ties to Wolves that have already endeared him to some. As this fan remarks: “Welcome back, Edwards. Don’t listen to the outside noise. We are with you every step of the way.”

But a quick reply added an ominous feel: “For now…”

Not everyone is so convinced: “Enjoy some of the worst football you’ll ever watch. Pray to god that plan A works because there isn’t a Plan B.”

Similarly, another glass-half-empty football fan says: “Good luck Rob you’ll need it mate – up the Wolves…”

Despite the bombshell news, some fans aren’t letting the new manager hype distract them from the real issue, which one fan lays out: “Rebuild should include Jeff saying bye to fans let’s hope that’s the next post from the club.”

Shi can’t escape the spotlight at the moment, with another fan saying: “We need to get rid of the cause of this mess – Jeff Shi.”

Wolves fans need to unite behind Edwards

There was always going to be a mixed reaction to whoever came in.

After months of misery and little hope, fans aren’t letting themselves get their hopes up.

But Edwards is the man who has been picked, and if Wolves are to have any hope of survival, fans need to rally behind him.

If Wolves do go down, Edwards is going to be at the helm in the Championship, so there’s no point not supporting him.

But as we saw with Pereira, if everything clicks, he could be the one to save Wolves’ Premier League hopes.
