Jeff Shi’s reputation among Wolves fans keeps on dwindling.
Shi has been the centre of attention amid fan protests in recent weeks. During the Old Gold’s game against Manchester United, signs showing the words ‘Shi Out’ were visible.
Following those efforts, more plans to express their frustrations have been set up by fans. A protest is set to take place against Brentford on Saturday.
However, ahead of the game this weekend, the Wolverhampton Council released a statement, combating what Jeff Shi recently said about Wolves’ stadium renovations.
Will you be holding up an ‘Our Club’ sign during the game at Molineux with Brentford?
Wolves fan groups have warned Fosun 'the noise won't stop'… 🗣️
Shi exclaimed he wanted more help from the council, but they hit back, saying they have been trying to do so. They say Wolves have been holding back the plans.
Fans, of course, had a lot to say after this update in the story.
Wolves fans express more frustration for Jeff Shi after Wolverhampton Council revelation
It will take a lot for Jeff Shi to be given any leeway by Wolves fans, and the latest twist in the development of Molineux will certainly not help.
Plans to renovate the ground have continuously stalled and have ultimately gone quiet. That was until Jeff Shi revealed he was speaking to a partner with a deal hopefully finalised by the end of December.
However, he also called out the Wolverhampton Council for their lack of involvement, a claim the council has vehemently denied.
After the statement by Councillor Stephen Simkins, fans took to social media to express their continued frustrations with the chairman.
If Wolverhampton Council supports Wolves’ stadium renovations, what should they do first?
One fan said, “So Wolverhampton Council are ready and waiting for the go-ahead with regeneration of Molineux. Of course Jeff Shi is behind the delay.”
Another stated, “Shi will not like these comments because he has no intention of improving the ground.”
While a different fan said, “Jeff Shi’s life would be so much easier if he simply stopped lying and gave honest answers.”
And one supporter stated, “So, yet more lies. Cannot believe anything that comes out his mouth…”
Additionally, a separate Wolves fan said, “Starting to see a pattern with Jeff; any time he can place the blame on someone else, he doesn’t hesitate to throw people under the bus. Even without heavy investment from Fosun, I think the club would just run a lot smoother with him gone.”
And that sentiment was followed with one person saying, “Jeff literally just makes it up as he goes, forgetting what he’s previously said and thus tying himself in knots and looking stupid. He thinks he’s fooling everyone, but in reality everyone knows he’s the fool.”
One fan found a balanced perspective, saying, “I wouldn’t say the council is blameless, but the total lack of any major investment in Molineux and the team is totally Fosun’s fault.”

Overall, the aftermath of the statement from the Wolverhampton Council has not made Jeff Shi’s life any easier.
However, there is one big positive to take, and that is based on what both sides of the coin have said in recent weeks.

No excuse for Wolves and Wolverhampton Council to not work together now
Whether or not you believe Jeff Shi or the Wolverhampton Council is largely irrelevant at this point. The he-said, she-said scenario does little to serve anyone associated with the club.
What does matter is we now have two clear stances from both sides. Jeff Shi wants help from the council, and the council have confirmed they are willing to offer it.
With both positions now out in the open, there should be no excuse from either side in helping to improve both the club and stadium over the next few years.
The alignment of visions should hopefully now present meaningful chances for Wolves to move forward on their Molineux plans.
