Wolves continue to decline under Fosun’s ownership, whilst rivals Birmingham City develop under Tom Wagner.
The West Midlands derby is always quite the spectacle, and lately it has gone in favour of Wolves, who have won six of the last 10 clashes and lost only two.
It has been over eight years since Birmingham City last had the pleasure of playing the Old Gold in the Championship, but we could soon see a return if things continue in the same direction at Molineux.

Times have changed since then, with Birmingham City under the ownership of Tom Wagner, whilst Wolves still find themselves under the guidance of Fosun.
To be fair to Wagner he’s at least trying to make a positive change, having invested heavily in transfer windows at St Andrew’s and is now looking to invest into the stadium and surrounding areas.

Wolves fans react to Birmingham City’s stadium plans
Birmingham City shared images of their new stadium on their X account, and it’s gathered quite the reaction from Wolves supporters.
A few Wolves fans acknowledged the fact that Fosun need to come up with some plans of their own.
@AyWeWolves1877 wasn’t too happy.
“Yeah it is (incredible). Owners who care do things like this. Ours don’t, so we have a rotting stand and an expansion fully approved but never on the move. Fosun and fair play Blues.”
@robbiexmeakin also brought up Fosun.
“Just watched the unveiling on Sky Sports News. Very impressive. Exciting time to be a blue nose. Imagine what it must be like having ambitious owners.”
@powndland liked what he was seeing.
“Just to add. I wish we had ambitious owners who are investing heavily and building us a stadium with the city’s industrial heritage woven into the fabric of it. I hope Wolves play Blues in that in the Prem. We will fill the other 40 thousand seats. MWAHAHAHAG”
Meanwhile, other Wolves fans couldn’t help but laugh at the sight of the new stadium.
Do Wolves have any stadium plans of their own?
Wolves announced further plans to redevelop Molineux in 2019 to take the stadium’s capacity up from 32,050 to 50,000. Fosun also commissioned renders to indicate what the changed Steve Bull and Billy Wright stands would look like alongside a single-tier South Bank stand.
However, the only things that have changed since then have been the rail seating, with everything else merely a forgotten blueprint. All plans to redevelop the stadium are seemingly on the back burner after the pandemic, due to the likely £46m bill for rebuilding the Steve Bull and South Bank stands
