Wolves fans were left more than a little excited by winger Daniel Podence during last night’s defeat to Manchester City.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side slipped to a 3-1 defeat in their second Premier League outing, with City’s quality proving too much in the end.
Wolves were totally outclassed in the first half, with Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden scoring for the visitors at Molineux.
After the break Wolves were much improved and actually might have gotten back on level terms but for some iffy finishing.

Raul Jimenez did pull one back, but the hosts couldn’t totally wrestle the initiative back from their opponents, with Gabriel Jesus killing the game off at the very end.
A disappointing defeat, but there were definitely some real positives to take.
One big positive was another promising performance from Podence, who was the architect of Jimenez’s header.

The pint-sized star – who cost the club just under £17 million back in January (BBC Sport) – produced a brilliant nutmeg on last season’s PFA Player of the Year De Bruyne, and was a constant threat with his movement.
His finishing could do with some work, but the signs are highly encouraging; Podence looks every inch like he’ll be the man to replace Diogo Jota and hopefully be more consistent than the new Liverpool man.
On social media, Wolves fans expressed their delight over the former Olympiakos player:
Podence making a fool of the best player in the Premier League there…

Obviously gutted about the result but not many teams beating City this season. Got a good run of games coming up and Podence is a baller 😎🐺 #wwfc

Ok we lost to a brilliant city side .
We were the better team in the second .
However seeing Podence do that to De Bruyne and the ball for the goal was just sublime
I do think city reclaim the title this year #wwfc

Paid for a stupid mistake and then constantly just gave the ball away needlessly. Didn’t take chances when they came. Podence looked really sharp again. Hopefully Marcal isn’t too badly injured. Semedo will be a massive help next match. Traore back up the pitch. #wwfc #FPL
