Wolves fans even more annoyed after Carlos Forbs’ Champions League display vs Barcelona

Carlos Forbs put in an exceptional display against Barcelona in the Champions League on Wednesday night, and that has left Wolves fans feeling the club made a big mistake.

Forbs scored a brace against the La Liga side, and it marked the first time he has ever scored two goals in one game.

On top of that, the former Wolves loanee got himself an assist in the 3-3 draw. This meant he played an influential role in all three of Club Brugge’s goals.

The Portuguese winger is the exact style of player the English club needs right now. The Old Gold lack pacey wide attackers, and Forbs would have been perfect this season for Wolves.

That has left fans reeling, believing they made a mistake to let him leave so soon.

Wolves fans react to Carlos Forbs’ Champions League performance vs Barcelona

There is plenty for Wolves fans to discuss online at the moment, with speculation about their new manager rife.

However, it was a former player that took the attention on Wednesday night and leading into Thursday morning as Carlos Forbs impressed in the Champions League.

Fans took to social media across X, formerly known as Twitter, and Reddit to react to Forbs’ performance.

One fan said, “I recall people saying he had a poor work ethic. But I tend to wonder whether our coaches and management just weren’t coaching and managing the players correctly.”

While another stated, “Another big failing of the Fosun era. We couldn’t even properly capitalise off of Mendes feeding us top talent because we wouldn’t be patient with young players. Pains me every time Vitinha is ranked as one of the best in the world. As a club we love to get a teenager, play them a half dozen times as a sub, and then write them off.”

Another Wolves fan simply said, “The next Vitinha.”

Additionally, one Old Gold supporter reacted to Forbs’ display, saying, “Wasn’t even worth giving a real chance to impress by both Gary O’Neil and Vitor Pereira, though? Forbs has seriously been tremendous since signing for Club Brugge.”

There is certainly a lesson in there for Wolves. This mistake has happened way too often, and perhaps with their current crop of young talent, they need to be more patient.

Cutting ties too soon could prompt yet another error down the line.

Wolves must have more patience with players and give them more chances

Carlos Forbs is yet another player who has seemingly trotted on and progressed his career further after leaving Wolves.

Fans will bemoan the decision to not sign Vitinha permanently after his struggles at Molineux and what he has gone on to become, and the fear is Forbs will be another who does the same.

Currently, Fer Lopez appears to be one of the most talented players at the club in terms of technical ability, but the same issues have been occurring.

The Spaniard has barely been given a chance. The creativity of Lopez is something Wolves need at the moment, and the next manager must trust him and give him a chance to prove himself.

However, Lopez is not the only one.

Mateus Mane, Tawanda Chirewa, and Enso Gonzalez are players within the youth setup who have all shown promise, and if Wolves are not careful or smart with their development, they could lose them in the future too.

With James Collins set to take charge against Chelsea, Mane could finally get minutes this season.
