Wolves will begin their FA Cup campaign in January, and there is frustration on the part of Shrewsbury Town leading up to the game.
Wolves look like they are heading for the Championship next year, so fans would love to hope that a long FA Cup run can be possible.
Last week, Wolves were drawn against Shrewsbury Town in the third round, with the game to be streamed on Discovery Plus and produced for live viewing overseas.
But already, there has been some anger from Shrewsbury regarding Wolves’ ticketing for the game.
Wolves have priced tickets at £10 for adults, and £5 concessions. This led the chairman of Shrewsbury Roland Wycherley to claim his club have been ‘shafted’.
He said: “The pricing belittles the competition and is disrespectful to the visiting club. They’ve already stopped replays and when the FA introduced the £10 10 years ago, it was as a minimum and not a maximum.
“We’ll end up making more from our match at South Shields in the first round. We’ve written to Wolves to say we strongly disagree but what can we do?
“Yet again, the lower league club gets shafted. It’s not our fault Wolves are reducing prices because the fans are up in arms about their owners.”
Wolves fans dismiss Shrewsbury complaints over ticket prices

Wolves have certainly come in for criticism on the topic of ticket prices in recent times.
However, following these comments from Wycherley, fans have moved to defend Wolves for their decision.
Many have questioned why Wycherley would be against a big club actually making the game affordable for fans of a lower league side.
@lincswolf: “Shrewsbury owners more interested in money than fans.”
@geenar34: “We’ve done cheap tickets for cup games for years.. Stop crying.”
@CarlyBaldwin88: “Oddly, this is about the only thing we’ve got right all season.”
Shrewsbury chairman Roland Wycherley has had a lot to say about Wolves’ FA Cup ticket prices…
Has he missed the mark or does he have a point? Let us know your take in the comments! 🤔
@Karalia101: “They haven’t reduced the prices. They’re exactly the same as they were for the 2 league cup ties this season.”
@RobertJoesbury: “Not our job to give them money either lol.”
@NP18: “This is madness🤯 How can they complain at those prices, it makes it affordable for people to actually go to a game!”
@SufferingWolves: “What a ridiculous stance from their chairman!”
@Baker42Eddie: “Incredible take by Shrewsbury I will be there but feel like boycotting because of their attitude.”
Shrewsbury chairman’s take is baffling
Simply put, it is not on Wolves to line Shrewsbury’s pockets.
Wolves regularly set lower prices for FA Cup games to make it more affordable, and it is disappointing that Wycherley has actually complained.
The prices will allow more Shrewsbury fans to actually attend. But it seems Wycherley is only interested in the financial potential of this game.
It is not the first time Shrewsbury have complained about another Premier League club when it’s come to the FA Cup.
In 2020, a complaint was lodged when Liverpool didn’t field a single first-teamer when the teams met in a replay, with Shrewsbury claiming (via Evening Standard) Jurgen Klopp’s decision ‘resulted in a much lesser occasion for our players and fans as well as the financial reward that would have been expected’.
