Wolves fans are just not having one thing Rob Edwards said after Man United defeat

Wolves lost their latest Premier League game against Manchester United – and one Rob Edwards line has not landed well with the fans.

The Old Gold crashed to a 4-1 defeat against United at Molineux, which played host to a protest before and leading into the game.

Wolves fans gathered outside the Billy Wright Stand to protest against Fosun, and then inside the ground there were more chants against the owners and Jeff Shi.

Who was the most disappointing Wolves performer in the 4-1 defeat to Man United? 🐺🔴

Yet another dismal evening for Wolverhampton Wanderers 😠

Wolves were comfortably beaten by United.

There was brief hope that Wolves could get something from the game when the brilliant Jean-Ricner Bellegarde equalised just before half-time.

But United cruised to victory in the end, with Wolves’ backline all over the place.

After the game, Rob Edwards dissected the night’s events – but one comment rather irked some fans.

It has been the most dismal of seasons for Wolves.

With just two points taken from 15 games, it is the worst start to a Premier League ever.

To say that many fans have now had enough is an understatement, with their focus now being firmly directed towards the ownership.

After the defeat to United, Edwards said: “I understand the frustration. Totally. It’s been six months since we last won. So I get it. I’m not going to sit here and dress it up or anything. I understand that side of it.

What do you make of Rob Edwards calling for more support of the players after the Man United loss?

Was this plea justified? 🤔

“I’d love it if they supported the players, but again, I understand the frustration because of the situation. the players are trying, I can promise that. But there’s clearly a lack of confidence and a lack of belief there.”

On social media, fans argued that they’ve played their part.

@Inspiral Jord2: “It’s not on the fans sorry, the protest was against the board not the players. Week in week out there’s solid voice. We don’t have any players who can drag us through they all just hide. Unfortunately Rob you have to stop this tripe.”

@FergusonStuart: “They’re impossible to get behind, bar a couple of them. Spineless cowards.”

@richierooster69: “We do. But we have to have something in return.”

@JOS2560689: “I’d like to remind Edwards these players haven’t won a league game all season and we are in December. The fans have had enough. No league win since April. An absolute disgrace.”

@_TightWadBill: “We have lost the last 12 games I have attended. I missed our two draws. We’ve lost by an aggregate score of 27-6. How can I genuinely support that?”

@AyWeWolves83: “Players aren’t trying. They don’t play like their life depends on it, they stroll around, don’t get stuck in or put up any fit and don’t move to get the ball. If they did that they would get some support.”

@robbowwfc: “Sorry Rob, I know you can’t speak against the owners but saying we’re protesting because we’ve not won is such a poor read of the room. Better just saying nothing and the players that try get the support. Larsen and Arias don’t try – why should we back players who don’t care.”

Edwards on a slippery slope with comments like this

Edwards loves the club and will no doubt feel the hurt of the supporters.

But he needs to be careful about calling on them like this. Because the loyal fanbase has tried and tried to lift these players and more often than not, they don’t get the same level of effort back.

What did you make of tonight’s protest scenes at Molineux? 🐺

Wolves fans certainly made their position clear

And besides, even despite how bad things have been, and the protests last night, there was still fantastic support for the players.

They are doing all they can.

So it is little surprise that the post-match comments from Edwards haven’t gone down too well.
