There weren’t many positives to take away from Wolves’ 4-0 defeat to Manchester City, but a few players came out looking good.
Brazilian midfielders Andre and Joao Gomes impressed for Wolves, while others such as Jose Sa and Emmanuel Agbadou made crucial errors.
Additionally, opposition players such as Erling Haaland enjoyed his time at Molineux on Saturday, albeit at the expense of the home side.
But now Ki-Jana Hoever’s performance is dividing the Wolves fanbase, and they can’t seem to agree on his appearance.

Wolves fans can’t agree on Ki-Jana Hoever after Manchester City game
Ki-Jana Hoever has been a bit of an enigma this season so far. Manager Vitor Pereira didn’t know Hoever was at Wolves before pre-season started, and he was then selected to start their first game of the Premier League.
The Dutchman started pre-season well, but his performances began to drop towards the end, and Wolves fans began calls for a new right wing-back.
However, due to a lack of options, Hoever was selected to start against Manchester City, and now Wolves fans have a mixed opinion.
Turning to X, one user said, “Hoever actually surprised me; started a bit sloppy but then he went more and more aggressive against Doku and managed to dominate him.”
Meanwhile, another likened him to former player Semedo, stating, “Hoever having a great game reminds me of early Semedo.”
Additionally, one fan said “Hoever isn’t the problem,” following the heavy defeat to Manchester City.
Another shared a similar sentiment, saying, “Think Hoever proved he can compete at this level well.”
However, the opinion on Hoever wasn’t shared amongst all supporters, and many actually thought the opposite.
One user on X said, “Hoever is a liability – pass it on.”
While another called for Jackson Tchatchoua to start once his signing is confirmed, saying that he would “rather try him out immediately than another Hoever start after today.”
Another conceded that Hoever played “OK” but still believes “he isn’t ready to start in the Premier League.”
One person on X also said, “Hoever seems to be lacking any kind of confidence for someone who has been given such a big vote of confidence.”
Vitor Pereira’s opinion is all that matters on Ki-Jana Hoever
While the fanbase may be undecided on Ki-Jana Hoever, the only opinion that really matters is that of the manager.
The right wing-back position is clearly one that he wants to strengthen, but that doesn’t mean Hoever can’t play a key role this season.

Jackson Tchatchoua will provide Hoever competition, and it may end up being a benefit for every party involved.
Time will tell how much Vitor Pereira truly trusts Ki-Jana Hoever, or if the Dutch defender was only selected due to the limited options at his disposal.
