Wolves lost 4-1 to Manchester United, and the Old Gold’s misery was compounded after Jean-Ricner Bellegarde picked up an injury.
Rob Edwards suffered yet another defeat, with United carving Wolves open at will, and punishing sloppy mistakes.
Wolves had been looking a bit better defensively of late. But it all went out of the window against United, and the struggles of the forward players continued.
How good was Jean-Ricner Bellegarde against Manchester United?
Let's hope the injury is not long-term 🙏
It was one of the worst displays of the season so far.
But there were still a couple of positives, with Fer Lopez looking quite bright when he came on for Wolves in the second-half.
Lopez replaced Bellegarde, who had scored Wolves’ equaliser in the game – and Dave Edwards has mentioned the Haiti international in his new column.
Dave Edwards worried about Jean Ricner Bellegarde as he makes ‘most exciting attacking player’ claim

As we have seen for most of the season, Wolves have really struggled from a creativity standpoint.
The summer exits of Matheus Cunha and Rayan Ait-Nouri were always going to sting, and Wolves have indeed suffered without them.
In so many games this term Wolves have struggled to pick the lock. By and large, there is just nothing happening in and around the final third.
However, Bellegarde is a player fans have been praising in recent weeks.
He may not be Cunha, but Bellegarde’s ability to drive with the ball, retain it, and be direct, is appreciated by supporters.
For Edwards, he is the man for Wolves.
He said in his latest E&S column: “The positive is that we did get the goal from Bellegarde, who was our most exciting attacking player on the night and his injury is worrying.”
Currently, there is no word on how severe Bellegarde’s injury is.
Bellegarde is Wolves’ best hope of increasing the creativity
Bellegarde’s performance against United was definitely a positive. He was easily the best player in old gold.
He is currently the only player in that team who is willing to take risks and try to give the forwards the ammunition they need.
Here’s what Wolves said about Bellegarde when he first came to Wolves
How integral is JRB now for Wanderers?
Things do not always come off. But at least he is willing to try – and others need to follow his example. Jackson Tchatchoua is someone who especially needs to adopt this forward-thinking mindset, having been far too conservative on the right side for Wolves.
Fans will now be sweating on Bellegarde after he hobbled off against United.
If he’s out for an extended period, then that really will be a major blow for Wolves and making getting points on the board even more difficult.
