Wolves beat West Ham 3-1 to get their US pre-season tour off to a strong start, with fans all applauding one player.
Gary O’Neil’s side continued their unbeaten start to pre-season as Wolves beat West Ham 3-1 in the United States.
The Old Gold have already secured wins against Como and Bristol City in friendlies, with the victory against the Hammers being a bright test against Premier League opposition.
It was a chance for Wolves fans to see how the club’s new arrivals performed against a squad from the English top flight, a test that was passed with flying colours.
Rodrigo Gomes netted a brace while Pedro Lima and Jorgen Strand Larsen secured an assist each, impressing many with their displays.
While goals from Gomes and Matheus Cunha sealed the win against Julen Lopetegui’s side, it was 18-year-old Lima who earned high praise from Wolves supporters far and wide.

The fixture was played during a storm in the States, with many fans back in England staying up to the early hours of Sunday morning to watch Wolves in action.
Taking to X to react to the win, supporters were not left disappointed by what they saw against the Hammers, as many sang the praises of Lima.
The teenager, who signed for Wolves from Sport Recife on his 18th birthday, assisted one of Gomes’ goals and caused problems for Lopetegui’s side on the right side.
One committed supporter who watched the game unfold reacted to Lima’s display by saying, “Could be an overreaction at 4am admittedly however, Pedro Lima is ridiculous. What on earth has Matt Hobbs found!”
Another fan agreed with the praise of Lima, “Woke up to a 3-1 win. Cunha scoring & touching the badge. Rodrigo double. Pedro Lima masterclass.”
Further praise for Lima came from his combination with Gomes on the right flank, where he assisted the 21-year-old’s headed goal expertly.
One supporter dubbed Lima’s assist as “amazing”, saying that the future “looks bright” at Molineux thanks to the input of Gomes and Lima.
It was an opinion shared by many, as another Wolves fan said, “Rodrigo Gomes and Pedro Lima, the new Wolves star boys. Think a lot may have underestimated how much they can contribute this year once settled.”
“Our two newbies combining well for a goal. Get us a top 4 finish already for next season”, an optimistic Wolves lover said.
Fans could see Lima start against Arsenal
Given that first-choice right-back Nelson Semedo will not feature for the first three games of the Premier League season due to suspension, the race is on for Lima to impress enough to start.
Wolves’ season opener comes against Arsenal, giving Lima the ultimate test to begin his career in England with.
Having seen how fearless the 18-year-old was against West Ham, the first signs are extremely encouraging, with Hobbs already being praised for his capture of the Brazilian starlet.
It will be interesting to see how Lima performs in Thursday’s duel against Crystal Palace, as Wolves’ pre-season tour of the US continues.
