Wolves were in action against RC Lens in pre-season, with only two friendlies remaining until the Premier League kicks off.
The Old Gold are yet to win in pre-season, but that won’t concern Vitor Pereira too much.
Wolves won’t want to peak before the season starts; however, there’s certainly some improvement needed.
Pereira watched from the sidelines at Walsall’s Bescot Stadium as Wolves lost 3-1 to RC Lens, with Goncalo Guedes scoring the only goal of the contest for the West Midlands side.
Intensity-wise, it was a much better performance than the one on show against Stoke City, but fans’ concern has only grown over one pressing topic.

Wolves fans are really concerned about squad depth
After Nelson Semedo confirmed his departure, Wolves headed into the friendly with their best available squad at present, minus new signing Jhon Arias.
This raised concerns amongst the Wolves fanbase, as supporters took to social media to react to how short Pereira’s options still are with only two weeks to go.
“We still need to make 5-6 signings, especially fullbacks,” one fan said.
“A bit concerning with the outgoings and having to play with players who last season only started 5 or 6 times as they were deemed not good enough. Unless incomings happen, I fear the worst.”
Fan reaction continued to pour in on X, as many shared the opinion that the Old Gold need a fair few signings before the window closes.
“We need 5 more additions even with arias in get a move on jeff !!!”
“3-4 to even compete for survival at this rate.”
“5/6 players short. Never mind dropping pennies, it’s time the club copped itself on. Back the manager or sell the club.”
Wolves fans have been unimpressed with Fosun for some time, as the negative preparation for the season seems to go on and on.
“How can an owner be as amateurish and/or arrogant to leave the squad this poor just over 2 weeks before the season. If I was VP I’d be off.”
“Zero chance we get 3-4 starters before the deadline. We’ll get 1 more (not counting Arias) followed by excuses about the market and not enough time to get stuff over the line. Rinse, repeat.”
It wasn’t just numbers that supporters were concerned about, as some raised the issue of a lack of star quality in the squad.
“These wing-backs are championship standard at best #wwfc at least we can play the Albion soon. Ambitious clubs like Blues will be promoted.”
“Quality LWB, RWB, CB, CM, attacking mid, ST needed. That’s 6 players of an absolute first team quality that have to come in, no kids, no buy one get one frees. 6 first team Premier League players.”
One fan admitted that they wouldn’t ‘blame’ Pereira if he opted to leave the club soon after the season begins.
“If we don’t sign at least 5 players with the ability to play first team Premier League football, then I think Vitor walks come September. There’s a reason he’s not signed that new contract yet. And I don’t blame him at all.”
Wolves need to act now
There’s a Groundhog Day feeling around Wolves every transfer window, and it’s becoming very frustrating.
Pereira arrived in December and dragged the Old Gold away from relegation, but the manager is now not being rewarded in the transfer market.
The boss has made his preferences known, with everyone understanding that the idea is for Wolves to complete more signings, but when?
Fans are growing understandably concerned, with the timeframe to get the squad gelled shortening day by day.
