Wolves fan group confirms protest plans ahead of Manchester United clash

Wolves fans have been growing impatient with Jeff Shi, Fosun, and how the club has been run over the last few years, and now with the club staring relegation in the face, they are hitting breaking point.

The Wanderers are last in the Premier League after selling off and losing most of their best players from last season.

Additionally, the recruitment has been uninspiring, as the new players have yet to provide the same impact as those they replaced.

Tensions are high at the moment, and after defeat to Nottingham Forest, Wolves supporters expressed the desire for a protest.

And now, their wish has been granted, as concrete plans for Wolves’ fixture against Manchester United have been set up by a prominent fan group.

Protest for Wolves vs Manchester United now planned

Wolves fans want to make a statement of intent to Jeff Shi and Fosun about their dissatisfaction with the way they are running the club, and they feel the best way to do so is with a protest.

Manchester United are one of the biggest clubs in the world, and with the match on Monday live on TV, there is no better time to do it.

Wolves fan group Old Gold Pack have heard the feelings of fans, and they have now organised plans for that protest to take place.

A statement released by the group reads, “A club built on rich history and tradition. Few teams have shaped the game like ours. But today, that legacy is being eroded – not by the fans, not by the players, but by the continued negligence & incompetence of FOSUN.

“If you want to make a real impact, join us in staying outside the ground for the first 15 minutes against Manchester United. A visibly empty stadium speaks louder than any chant, banner, or slogan ever could.

“We all care. We all hurt. We all want better for Wolves. But this only works if the majority of us stand together and take part. This is our club. Make it count.”

Images of a stadium visibly empty in the opening minutes of the match will certainly have an impact, and with Jeff Shi’s little communication with fans, the hope is that this message will be received loud and clear.

Wolves are in real danger of breaking Derby’s points record, and that is a worrying outlook.

Just a few years ago, the Old Gold were playing in European competition, and this drop-off in status offers justification for fans to take these actions.

Jeff Shi’s 2018 vision for Wolves has drifted into a distant dream.

“If you ask me the long-term goal, of course, we want to be as good as Man City, even better than them in the future.”

Wolves fans are entirely right to protest

Wolves fans are right to protest against the ownership.

The running of the club has been frankly terrible, and after season after season of relegation battles, Fosun have finally flown too close to the sun.

The selling of Wolves’ best players and signing inferior replacements has finally caught up with the club, and next season they will likely be in the Championship for the first time in eight years.

Jeff Shi and Fosun had the chance to make Wolves a genuine side that challenged for European places, but the lack of investment has thwarted any hopes of that.

Look at the likes of Aston Villa and Newcastle. One season in Europe has allowed them to recruit better players, and now they have sustained themselves in the upper end of the Premier League.

With more ambition, that could have been Wolves now.
