Wolves defender Nelson Semedo is in the final year of his contract at Molineux after signing in 2020.
The Old Gold showcased their pull in the market for Portuguese players by signing Semedo from Barcelona.
Nuno Espirito Santo paid the Catalan giants £37m for the right-back’s services, capturing him from the Spanish club where he won the Copa del Rey and two LaLiga titles.
After making a questionable impact at first, Semedo has really found his feet in the Premier League under Gary O’Neil, thriving in a back five.

Wolves receive Nelson Semedo contract update
The Old Gold have reaped the benefits of Semedo’s expertise on the right side of defence however, are aware that they are operating on borrowed time with the Portugal international.
Semedo’s contract at Molineux expires in the summer of 2025, with there no outline regarding what the future holds for the defender.
Speaking on the matter on the E&S Wolves Podcast, journalist Liam Keen shared his thoughts on the 30-year-old’s plans.
“He’s [Semedo] in the last year of his contract and as far as I’m aware there are no conversations at the moment. It’s probably a little early for Wolves to be doing that I think,” the Wolves reporter explained.

Keen then went on to explain why it’s ‘unlikely’ that the former Barcelona star will stay at Molineux beyond next summer.
“He’s on big money, I don’t think he’d want to take a cut on his pay. He has probably got a big move somewhere else if he wanted to do that.
“In terms of Wolves’ wage structure, I think it’s similar with Pablo Sarabia, it’s unlikely, I wouldn’t say impossible but unlikely that those two players will stick around.”
Semedo is a top earner at Wolves
Semedo would be sorely missed in O’Neil’s system however, Keen’s concerns ring true, as the likelihood of the club offering the almost 31-year-old a new deal on his current wage is slim.

Only Pablo Sarabia earns more than Semedo at Wolves, picking up a hefty £80k-a-week compared to the Spaniard’s weekly salary of £90k.
Sarabia is in a similar position to Semedo however, his future looks more certain than the defender’s given that the former PSG midfielder has played sporadically this season.
Semedo on the other hand is integral to O’Neil’s system, with his quality on the right side near impossible to replace at Wolves, giving the manager and the club something to think about amid talks of a new deal.
