Wolves defender Ki-Jana Hoever enjoyed a good outing for PSV Eindhoven against Utrecht earlier today.
The youngster has found minutes hard to come by so far during his loan spell with the Dutch giants.
Wolves officials sent him back to his homeland in the hope that he would be able to find some form following a tough first couple of years at Molineux.
But it hasn’t really happened for him so far at the Philips Stadion.
But today’s game against Utrecht was arguably his most impactful display to date.
He started on the bench, but came on for Philipp Max, and the 20-year-old made an immediate impact.
The star put in a great cross for Anwar El-Ghazi to head home, before he then crossed for El-Ghazi once again just a few minutes later. That was the final goal of the game, with PSV winning 6-1.
It was a display Hoever really needed, having not featured in any of PSV’s last four games across all competitions.
It’s also been a pretty turbulent time for Hoever away from football, with reports surfacing recently that his residence in Eindhoven had been broken into (via Eindhoven News).
Ki-Jana Hoever must kick on now at PSV after positive showing against Utrecht
It is good to see Hoever making a really positive contribution for PSV. The two balls he put in for El Ghazi today were of very high quality.
It has not been the best of starts for him back in his homeland.
But he must now use this cameo to try and kick on.
His focus should be on regaining his starting berth and then keeping his place.
Nelson Semedo is out of contract at Wolves next summer. So it could be that Wanderers are thinking about life after the 28-year-old.
It’s likely, at this stage, that they will want him to extend. But there’s always a chance he might fancy moving on.
So it’s important for Hoever to have a good season in 2022/23. Because potentially there could be a starting spot waiting for him back at Molineux next season.
