Lots of players left Wolves in the 2025 summer transfer window – and one star is absolutely thriving with his new club.
The 2025 summer window will likely not be too fondly remembered by most Wolves fans.
With time it might not look so bad, but certainly right now the feeling is that Wanderers let far too many Premier League-proven players leave, replacing them with gambles.
The likes of Matheus Cunha and Rayan Ait-Nouri were also likely to leave.
But few expected the exodus we got, and we’ll now see if Wolves’ transfer business will end up proving costly.
Most of the talk has obviously been about Cunha and Ait-Nouri’s departures.
But barely anything was said when Wolves bid farewell to Carlos Forbs after his loan move – and ironically he now looks to be making a big impression with Club Brugge.
Carlos Forbs enjoying new lease of life with Club Brugge after Wolves woes

Carlos Forbs signed for Wolves last year, on loan from Ajax.
With Forbs being a rapid winger who likes to be direct and take people on, he was essentially the replacement for Pedro Neto.
But it was a fairly miserable spell for the youngster at Molineux, as he only made 11 appearances for a total of 260 minutes on the pitch.
At one point, Vitor Pereira admitted that Forbs’ profile didn’t match Wolves’ system, saying: “He’s a winger, one against one. To do what I want in this system is difficult for him when we are defending. He doesn’t have the skill to go and come back to defend, it’s difficult.
“It’s not about his quality because he has quality, he’s strong one against one, he’s very fast. But in my system he cannot play inside in between the lines because he doesn’t have these skills. And to play outside is a different profile of player.”
Forbs is enjoying a new lease of life now though at Club Brugge, who he joined permanently from Ajax in the summer.
So far, he’s made 12 appearances, and scored two goals and made three assists.
His latest goal was his first in the Belgian Pro League in a thrilling 5-5 draw with Westerlo, and was a stunning strike that found the top corner from the edge of the box (3:06 in the above highlights video).
Belgian publication Le Soir have described Forbs’ start as ‘explosive’ and ‘hard hitting’.
Forbs could be another one that got away for Wolves

Wolves fans were not particularly upset by the club’s decision not to buy Forbs after his loan move.
Ultimately, he had barely shown anything in a Wolves shirt, and there was no real reason for the club to commit the money required to sign him. It was thought Wolves had the option to pick Forbs up for just over £11 million (The Athletic).
It is a shame he wasn’t suited to the system, because he is clearly a player with something about him as he is now showing.
Ultimately, it didn’t work out for him at Wolves, not because he wasn’t a good enough player – although he could perhaps have shown a bit more – but mainly because he had the wrong profile for what Pereira wanted.
Potentially though now, he could be a rather uncomfortable watch for Wolves officials.
Forbs has started very well at Club Brugge, and he’ll only want to make up for lost time.
