Matheus Cunha’s time at Wolves is almost up, as the Brazilian is reportedly in line to join Manchester United.
It’s understood that Cunha wants his next club decided before the end of the season, as two games of the campaign remain.
The 25-year-old has had a blistering time in the West Midlands, rising to prominence last term as Gary O’Neil got the best out of Julen Lopetegui’s signing.
Manchester United are leading the race to sign Cunha, as Ruben Amorim has been charmed by the Wolves superstar’s impressive form throughout the 2024/25 calendar.

Matheus Cunha could be ‘furious’ if he doesn’t win end-of-season awards
It was in March that Cunha revealed he wanted to leave Wolves in search of a transfer in the 2025 market, something that is now almost certain to happen.
Though the Brazil international has been a highly influential figure this term, Wolves fans are growing to become fed up with Cunha and his transparency regarding his future.
As a result, discussion is building concerning whether the 25-year-old will win both of Wolves’ end-of-season awards, the Players’ Player of the Year and the Supporters’ Player of the Year.
The topic was spoken about on the E&S Wolves Podcast by journalists Liam Keen and Nathan Judah, as the latter predicted that Joao Gomes could pip his compatriot to one award.
“I think with Joao Gomes, just with the way the situation is at this moment in time, I’m going to pick Joao Gomes as the Fans’ Player of the Year and that Cunha will win the Players’ Player of the Season.”
Mario Lemina won Supporters’ Player of the Season last term, and despite Judah’s opinion, his co-host believed that, putting the unrest with Cunha aside, the Brazilian is in line to collect the in-house double.
“I’d be gobsmacked if he’s [Cunha] not [Players’ player of the season]. He would be my pick for player of the season, he’s just been too good, and despite the shortcomings, his goals have been important, and he’s scored a lot,” Keen said.
The Wolves expert then shared his opinion that if the forward doesn’t collect both awards, he will be left ‘furious’, given his marvellous season in front of goal.
“I do also agree with you that plenty of fans won’t vote for him, some will have their heads turned, I do still think enough will vote for him, where he’ll win both. It’ll be really interesting, and I tell you what, if he doesn’t win both, he’ll be furious.”
Clear standouts for Wolves Player of the Season
Though Cunha has racked up 21 goal contributions in the Premier League so far this season, the Brazilian isn’t the only one to have turned heads at Molineux.
Summer signing Andre has emerged as one of the Premier League’s best, particularly since being fused with fellow Player of the Season frontrunner, Gomes.
Rayan Ait-Nouri has been impressive, especially since Pereira’s arrival, as the manager has transformed the squad following his December arrival.
A trailblazer in Wolves’ resurgence under Pereira has been January capture Emmanuel Agbadou, who has earned glowing praise for his adaptation to the English game.
On paper, Cunha certainly leads the way, but, as Keen and Judah raised, the 25-year-old’s shortcomings could be costly when it comes to fan votes.
