Conor Coady is reportedly set to miss out on the latest England squad.
According to the Daily Mail, the Wolves defender, who is on loan at Everton, is facing disappointing news this afternoon.
Gareth Southgate is naming his squad for the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers against Italy and Ukraine.
Apparently, Coady is set to miss the cut.
Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi is the man set to replace him.
It would be a big blow for Coady to miss out. He has been a staple pick for Southgate since he made his debut for the three Lions against Iceland in May 2020.
The manager rates Coady very highly and loves especially the leadership qualities he brings and professionalism.
He is hugely popular in the dressing room. Southgate’s assistant Steve Holland branded the 30-year-old England’s player of Euro 2020, despite him not playing a single minute.
But just recently, Coady has lost his starting berth on loan at Everton.
Sean Dyche has come in and preferred a centre-back partnership of Michael Keane and James Tarkowski.
Coady has missed the last three Premier League games.
Blow for Conor Coady with England snub reportedly pending, Wolves man has suffered from managerial change
This will come as a big disappointment for Coady, who loves representing his country.
It seems Dyche prefers to use Keane and Tarkowski as his starting centre-backs for the moment.
But prior to him losing his place, Coady’s form had dipped.
Everton have really struggled this season, and perhaps Southgate has simply seen players that are more deserving.
It is a big call from him, given his admiration for the player.
