Wolves have it tough as it is right now, and the upcoming African Cup of Nations tournament certainly won’t make life any easier.
Rob Edwards has tried a few different formulas, but nothing is sticking at Wolves right now. That is four losses on the bounce and the biggest defeat yet after another embarrassing showing.
This Wolves squad is about to be disrupted even more with the African Cup of Nations upon us, as various players head off to their respective nations.
The likes of Tolu Arokodare, Tawanda Chirewa, and Marshall Munetsi are likely to feature, but Jackson Tchatchoua has been omitted from Cameroon’s squad.
It’ll be interesting to see whether Wolves bring in another striker in January, given the form of Jorgen Strand Larsen, with Tolu possibly missing for an extended period.
That isn’t the only dilemma, as Emmanuel Agbadou will be off as well.
The upcoming AFCON tournament could affect Wolves significantly 🤔
Emmanuel Agbadou’s place at AFCON confirmed by Ivory Coast
Emmanuel Agbadou has played 90 minutes in all of Rob Edwards’ six games since taking charge of Wolves.
To be fair to Agbadou, he’s probably been Wolves’ best central defender in recent games, as the mistakes that plagued him towards the start of the season have been eradicated.
However, he’s set to miss a large chunk of action after being selected by the Ivory Coast for their squad to travel to the African Cup of Nations.
Emmanuel Agbadou confirmed for Ivory Coast’s AFCON squad 🌍
Players are required to report to north Africa on December 15, with the tournament kicking off six days later when hosts Morocco face Comoros.
The final will be held almost a month later on January 18, meaning Wolves could be without him for almost a month’s worth of action.
This includes games against Brentford, Liverpool, Manchester United, West Ham, Everton, Shrewsbury and Newcastle United if the Ivory Coast make the final.
