Wolves confirm player not seen since August has finally returned to the grass at Compton after injury

Wolves are looking to enjoy a much better second half of the 2024/25 season than the first.

Wanderers are languishing down in 17th place in the Premier League table right now and sit just a point above the relegation zone.

But there’s newfound optimism following the arrival of Vitor Pereira, who’s won three of his first five games.

Pereira has made his first signing in Emmanuel Agbadou, and fans are hoping to see one or two more additions before the window closes.

It will be ideal for Wolves to have as big a squad as possible moving forward, because we all saw what happened last season.

Key players got injured and Wolves’ momentum completely halted due to having to call on youngsters.

So new signings are on the agenda, but there’s good news for Wolves because one forgotten man looks to be nearing his return to the squad.

Earlier today, Vitor Pereira gave Wolves fans a positive injury update, with key players Matheus Cunha, Nelson Semedo and Craig Dawson all back fit again to play against Newcastle United, after their recent injuries.

Mario Lemina is also available.

But Wolves have further confirmed via their official website that Boubacar Traore has returned to the grass at Compton Park.

Traore – who joined the club from Metz for £9.5 million after an initial loan – has not played for Wolves since August, when he got injured against Burnley in the Carabao Cup.

Traore’s injury prevented him from making a loan move to Feyenoord, as he had to undergo surgery on his meniscus.

A boost for Wolves, especially amid Lemina exit talk

It is great to see that Traore is nearing his return to action after that unfortunate and untimely injury he sustained against Burnley.

Traore enjoyed a strong finish to last season when most of his teammates were out of form.

Fans were keen to see him kick on this term. But seemingly, the plan was actually to loan him out, and then the injury happened.

So it’ll have been a frustrating period for the 23-year-old, who’ll now be itching to get back out there.

If Lemina does go then Traore will make a decent replacement, at least in that he’s a similar player style-wise. But there’d be no surprises if Wolves felt he needed a loan move.

But it would certainly be nice to see Pereira give him a chance. Gary O’Neil felt Traore has ‘a big future’, and it would be great to see him realise his potential at Molineux.
