Wolves confirm Marshall Munetsi and Nasser Djiga squad numbers

Wolves enjoyed a busy end to the January transfer window. The Old Gold brought in two players on Deadline Day.

Wolves signed Emmanuel Agbadou at the beginning of January but waited until the window’s final hours to conclude their business.

After weeks of speculation, Mario Lemina was allowed to join Galatasaray in a deal worth £2.5 million.

Securing a replacement for their former captain, Wolves signed Marshall Munetsi from Stade Reims. Vitor Pereira also welcomed Nasser Djiga from Red Star Belgrade, and now the club have confirmed what shirt numbers the pair will wear.

Marshall Munetsi and Nasser Djiga squad numbers confirmed

Munetsi and Djiga joined for a combined £26.6 million.

The pair’s arrival, in addition to Agbadou’s signing earlier in the window, took Wolves’ total January spending to £42.2 million — making them England’s second-highest spenders behind champions Manchester City, who spent over £170 million on winter signings.

And now part of the squad, Wolves have confirmed what shirt numbers Munetsi and Djiga will wear for the remainder of the 2024-25 season.

Munetsi will wear the number 5 shirt with Djiga handed the number 34 jersey.

Munetsi takes Mario Lemina’s shirt

Not only has Munetsi replaced Lemina at the heart of Pereira’s midfield, but the Zimbabwe international has also taken his old shirt.

Lemina’s return to Galatasaray freed up the number 5 shirt which Munetsi will now wear.

The decision to hand him the number 5 jersey suggests Munetsi will go straight into Wolves’ first team and play a key role alongside Andre and Joao Gomes.
