Wolves chiefs set to hold transfer meeting this week amid relegation fight

The upcoming January transfer window will be Wolves’ last chance to improve the squad in their bid for survival.

By all accounts, Wolves are sticking by Vitor Pereira.

The club has expressed its confidence in the Wolves boss to take the team forward, despite not flying out of the gates at the beginning of the campaign.

Along with that trust comes a need to back the manager in the transfer market and help him strengthen where necessary.

A new report suggests Fosun and Jeff Shi are intending to do exactly that, which begins with outlining plans for the January window.

Details of Wolves’ upcoming transfer meeting

The news of the planned meeting broke in tandem with the update on Pereira’s future.

Since the club are happy to stick with the Portuguese, all attention must now turn to the window.

Pereira is sure to have an idea already of what he wants, but he is yet to find out just how strong of a backing he will receive.

As is reported by Sky Sports: “Wolves will hold talks this week about how they can strengthen in the January transfer window and help Vitor Pereira keep the club in the Premier League.

“Meetings will centre on evaluating what positions are needed, the budget available, and potential players they can target as they find ways to aid what is already a fight against relegation.”

By the sounds of it, these discussions could make or break Wolves’ season. There’s a lot at stake.

Fosun need to go big in January

We don’t know where Wolves will be by January, but it’s safe to assume they won’t be cruising up the league. As much of a shame as it is to admit out loud, a relegation battle looks more likely at this present moment.

If that’s the case, there can be no penny-pinching from the top. The financial loss of leaving the Premier League is too high to stand idly by.

Fosun need to give Pereira what he wants. We saw him come in last December to turn the season around, and the recruitment done in January played a significant role.

If he gets sufficient backing, there’s no reason why he won’t be able to repeat the trick this time around. That means signing good players that fit his system, without worrying so much about balancing the books.
