Wolves in the 2011/2012 season were not a good side, and it was evident by their record in the Premier League – now the current side can match a record set by that team.
Wolves deserved more against Aston Villa, but in football, goals are what win games, and the Old Gold are struggling in that department.
Wolves’ issues are clear to see in the final third ahead of playing Aston Villa…
Jorgen Strand Larsen felt Wolves were the better team, and while he might have been right, it was a lack of clinical edge that led them to defeat.
Aston Villa have found countless ways to win as of late, and the Old Gold knew the Villans were excellent from range.
Boubacar Kamara’s rocket sank the hopes of the Wanderers and has now set them on a path to making unwanted history.
Wolves can match Terry Connor’s losing streak

After Mick McCarthy was sacked by Wolves in the 2011/2012 season, Terry Connor was made manager until the end of the season.
And in that period, he managed the Old Gold for 13 games. Across those matches, he did not win a single fixture.
In fact, he also went on a seven-game losing streak, the longest for Wolves in the top flight since then.
After Rob Edwards’ side lost 1-0 to Aston Villa, that made it six games in a row where they have fell to defeat, and now they are in danger of matching Terry Connor.
The verdict is in for the Old Gold players…
Next up is Nottingham Forest, who remain ten points above Wolves, so it will be no easy task to avoid this record.
However, after the performance against Aston Villa, Edwards had a lot of positives to take into the next match.
And that will surely provide him with some hope that his side can get a result.
Wolves on track for most losses in a season
Based on their results so far this season, Wolves are on track to lose 32 Premier League games in total.
That would smash their record of most defeats in a season by quite some distance.
Over the course of the Old Gold’s history, they have lost 25 games in one campaign on four occasions.

| Total losses | League Division | Year |
| 25 | Division One (Top Flight) | 1964–65, 1983–84 |
| 25 | Division Two (Second Tier) | 1984–85 |
| 25 | Division Three (Third Tier) | 1985–86 |
In those times, Wolves did have to play more games, with the league seasons totalling 42 matches in the top flight and second tier and then 46 in the third tier.
Getting seven more losses in fewer games would certainly be an embarrassing record to set. Edwards has to turn it around.
