Wolves are waiting patiently for Matheus Cunha to sign a new contract as talks have stalled.
Wolves and Cunha reached a verbal agreement to extend the Brazilian’s current deal however, the player is yet to put pen to paper.
The forward’s current Wolves contract runs until 2027, with the Old Gold eager to extend his stay and reward him with a pay rise.
Cunha is admired by Arsenal, who are looking for a new forward in the January window, causing some tension to set in as contract talks have slowed.

Issue in Matheus Cunha Wolves contract talks outlined
As Fabrizio Romano detailed the stall in Cunha’s talks with Wolves, fellow journalist Alex Richards painted a worrying picture.
It was reported that Cunha’s agent is making ‘noise’ as he sees a gap in the market for his client, which of course will worry those at Molineux.
Another update has since emerged from journalist Ben Jacobs, who has provided some information on why a new contract has not yet been signed.
The reporter said that parties are ‘still discussing’ a possible release clause, which could include two different numbers as Wolves face the prospect of relegation.
It’s added that Cunha has been offered an ‘important pay rise’, with Wolves understanding that even if the Brazilian signs a new deal, he could issue a ‘desire to leave for the right opportunity’ in the future.
Wolves will want to keep Cunha for as long as possible, however, like many before him, a sense of inevitability is traceable.
How much Wolves want for Matheus Cunha
Vitor Pereira admitted that he’d be ‘happy’ if Cunha left Wolves to join a ‘big club’ in the near future, applauding the quality of the Old Gold’s prized player.
While it’s highly unlikely that Cunha would leave in the January transfer window, Jacobs outlined the possibility of such, as Arsenal were mentioned once more.
It’s understood that the Gunners are ‘in contact’ with Cunha’s representatives but only informally at this moment in time, with the understanding that Wolves don’t want to sell in January.
Jacobs went on to offer a ‘likely’ asking price, believing that Wolves could demand in excess of £80m for their star forward.
The Old Gold don’t want Cunha to leave before the end of 2024/25 but, Arsenal remain on his radar, as Jacobs insisted that Mikel Arteta’s side ‘remain alert’ to the Brazilian’s situation.
