Wolves have a mountain to climb in order to stay up this season – but one thing has already significantly improved under Rob Edwards.
Wolves sit rock bottom of the Premier League table having taken just two points so far.
It has been a disastrous campaign, which Rob Edwards now has to try and rectify – and there are plenty of things to fix.
Under Vitor Pereira, Wolves struggled all over the place, with the Portuguese seeming not to have an idea of his best team or system.
Edwards has suggested he’ll seek to create an identity for Wolves, and hopefully this will happen as soon as possible.
All just wasn’t well under Pereira. And recently, goalkeeper Sam Johnstone stated things had been swept under the carpet previously.
Edwards is in place now – and while it could take a while for things to change, one thing about Wolves has already certainly improved.
Wolves showing more intensity under Rob Edwards as sprints data emerges

At the end of the day, football is about scoring goals and beating the other team.
But many other things underpin a winning performance – and intensity always plays a huge part.
Sky Sports have published an interview with Edwards, and there are some interesting data embeds within the article.
And one relates to the intensity of Wolves, which has improved significantly since Edwards arrived.
It’s crystal clear for Rob Edwards what needs to happen at Wolves
Their graph shows that Wolves have made 151 sprints against Crystal Palace, and 148 against Aston Villa.
In the four games prior to those two, the highest number of sprints Wolves managed was 136 against Fulham. Against Chelsea they did 128, against Burnley they did 129 and against Sunderland they managed just 120.
Wolves must now make their intensity count for something
This is encouraging data, and the players really are putting in a lot of effort.
The situation is probably very demoralising, but the response to the Edwards appointment has been good so far, despite the two defeats for the new manager.
It is now about turning this increased intensity into results for Wolves.
Does this Sky interview give you more confidence Rob Edwards can improve Wolves? 🤔
He's under no illusions about the size of the task…
If they can put in a similar number of sprints tonight against Nottingham Forest that will surely breathe life into the crowd, and that can only be positive.
But of course, it’s all about Wolves being clinical when those chances come, which wasn’t quite the case against Villa.
