Making only his fourth appearance for Colombia, Mosquera was selected to start for La Tricolor alongside Jhon Lucumi.

It was a moment for the Wolves ace to remember, as Colombia battled World Champions Argentina to secure a win with World Cup 2026 qualification in mind.

Mosquera impressed against Argentina and was able to live his dream, as his country got the better of the 2022 World Cup winners who were missing Lionel Messi.

Speaking to the media after the game, the Wolves youngster admitted he had ‘no words’ to describe the feeling of scoring for his country, via Swiss Info

“I have no words to describe what I’m feeling,” Mosquera said, as he went on to thank two familiar faces in the Premier League.

The 23-year-old reserved thanks for James Rodriguez and Liverpool’s Luis Diaz for the support he received from the experienced duo.

“They know the joy I feel inside and they were happy for me.”

Rodriguez scored and assisted for Colombia, setting up Mosquera’s goal to earn the praise of his nation, who recorded a memorable win over Argentina.

Mosquera is loving life at Wolves

It’s been quite the year for Mosquera, who at this point in 2023 was on loan at MLS side Cincinnati.

The centre-back returned to Wolves that December to then join LaLiga giants Villarreal for the remainder of the 2023/24 campaign, a switch that proved to be career-altering for the defender.

Mosquera impressed in Spain, seeing him return to O’Neil’s squad very much a part of the manager’s plans.

As a result, the Colombian has started all three of Wolves’ opening Premier League fixtures, impressing in each with his stature in central defence as well as his confidence to be daring.

There’s a lot for the 23-year-old to improve on however, the early signs are suggesting that Wolves have a player with heaps of potential on their hands, as Mosquera continues to assert himself on the international stage.
