Wolves ace now admits ‘everyone’s upset’ at Compton after latest VAR controversy

Wolves were once again on the wrong end of a controversial VAR decision against Fulham on Monday, and now Matheus Cunha has had his say.

Every week it seems that Gary O’Neil has to complain about refereeing standards as Wolves constantly end up on the receiving end of bad calls by VAR and officials.

Gary O’Neil has seen his side miss out on a potential seven points due to multiple poor calls. This would see Wolves on 24 points and in sixth place in the league.

When you see how drastically Wolves have been affected by these poor decisions, it is easy to see why O’Neil is fuming.

But he isn’t the only one fuming and upset, as Matheus Cunha has also been speaking out on the situation which he admitted is hard to accept around Compton Park.

Cunha on VAR decisions

Speaking to Wolves club media, Cunha admitted he is finding it very difficult to deal with the situation Wolves constantly find themselves in.

“It’s hard. Everyone’s very upset. There’s been a lot of hard decisions against us and I’m not the guy who’s come here to put the responsibility on someone else, but there’s been a lot of times.

“To hear them say sorry again and again, it’s very hard for us. We respect that every [incorrect] decision against us is not intentional, everyone makes mistakes, even us, 100 per cent, but it’s hard.”

Cunha is absolutely right in feeling this way. Wolves have played well enough to no doubt be a top-half side, however, consecutive poor decisions have prevented this and denied O’Neil the immense praise he deserves.

Wolves players need to be more careful

Despite there being truth that Wolves are hard done by, Dave Edwards has written for Express and Star that Wolves need to also help themselves.

This is something which also bears truth given Wolves need to avoid allowing themselves to be placed into a situation which sees penalty’s given.

More often than not, penalties being given can be attributed to a lack of common sense in the box, failing to clear the ball or making poor decisions.

So while VAR and referees are getting these decisions wrong, Wolves also need to be more careful and try to avoid the situation as a whole.
